Reiki Attunement

Posted October 7th, 2009

Can you be Self-Attuned or does a

Reiki Master Teacher Initiate or Attune you?

Has anyone ever asked you this question before?

Have you ever asked it yourself?

Chances are, on both counts, that you haven’t – and this is not at all surprising.  Many Reiki Masters or Reiki Teachers haven’t given this much thought.  It seems most just accept the history as ‘given’ by other Reiki Practitioners at every level.  No matter which story of the origins of Reiki you have been taught or choose to believe in – you are asked to accept ‘that the ability to channel Reiki’ can only be passed on to you by an existing Reiki Master in person.

And, at least initially, this sounds plausible and quite acceptable…Until you look a little deeper…

Quick rundown on the origins of Reiki
There are presently two versions of how Reiki came into being, both of which have been circulating for quite some time.

The Western version goes something like this:
After years of searching through various religious and spiritual manuscripts in several countries for the ability to heal like Jesus, Usui (pronounced: you-soo-ee or Ooo-su-ee) was awakened in his third eye by a strong light – which came out of the darkness after a 21 day fasting meditation on Mount Kurama, giving him with the ability to heal.

The Eastern version goes like this…
After facing certain business failures; Usui went to Mount Kurama and experienced an awakening and understanding surrounding the ability to heal ones self at every level.  During his days of meditating, with his experiences he founded the ‘Usui Reiki’; life force energy healing at every level.  With a very brief history of the Reiki origins, it really doesn’t matter which version you find acceptable. Usui was on Mount Kurama alone.

Now, let’s look at this closer; do you believe that the only way to be attuned to the Reiki energy is to be initiated or attuned by an existing Reiki Master in person?

This is where we have to ask you, ‘Does this really make any sense’?  It is no secret that Dr. Usui meditated and committed himself to the Reiki Energies.

Does it make any sense at all for you to accept that you can only be attuned to Reiki by someone else, when Reiki Teachers accepted the founder of Reiki- Dr. Usui – attuned himself to the energies and founded the Reiki practice.

In either version of the Reiki history does it mention anywhere that there was anyone else present to pass this energy on to him. Some will tell you that Usui was struck in the forehead by some kind of bright light which enlightened him to Reiki – well, I personally don’t think so, but even if that did happen- it’s still not another person is it?

So, the truth is –

Usui was totally alone when he attuned himself to Reiki!

Here is the Question:  Do you have to be attuned by a Reiki Master?
You can be empowered with the Reiki Energy without an attunement from a physical person. Reiki is FREE and available to everyone who chooses to learn the discipline, initiate, respect, techniques and practice it.  You pay for the tools and time from a Reiki Master to gain the knowledge, guidance and certification to practice.

Reiki Energy has been with us since the beginning of time, there is nothing new about it at all. There is no reason why you cannot be empowered the same way that the founder Usui was. Remember that Usui was a mortal man (the same as all of us) who was empowered during meditating; via; self-attuned.  I only say this because I have also self-attuned after being attuned by a Master.  I can honestly say that my self-attunement, commitment and sensitivity to the energies were very powerful, no doubt raised the vibrations for me. Those that I have guided through- The Secret of Reiki Home Study Course- ‘the self-attunement’- have said the same in sharing their personal experiences.  You have a choice as to how you attune to the Reiki Energies; I have found great experiences in each attunement ritual I have participated in. Reiki is an intention, a commitment and personal relationship you develop through a process of knowledge, learning, attunement and practice.  Some of my students, even several internationally; have requested a long distance attunement by me as well, along with their self-attunement; clearly it is a personal relationship with Reiki and a personal choice.

Reiki Self Treatment

Posted September 25th, 2009

Take a deep breath, fall is upon us and the new season rings in the chills and fresh air of fall… the energies of nature shift and change, we do too!

In response to the many emails surrounding a Reiki Self Treatment; I thought it would be best to post an article, an ‘all in one answer’!

Why would I want to learn how to do a Reiki Self-Treatment?

Although it is a wonderful experience to receive Reiki from someone else, a practitioner, Reiki Master or a Reiki Teacher, there are many reasons to consider learning to practice Reiki on yourself. The convenience of self-treatment is valued not only by people with health challenges, but also by those of us with busy schedules. Daily Reiki Self-Treatments provide an opportunity to restore balance, reduce stress, and reconnect with an experience of wholeness and wellness.   Additionally, it has been my experience, moments of Reiki practiced throughout the day will bring you back to centering, relief from pain, anxiety, and stress as often as you feel the need.

Self healing is one of the numerous benefits of Reiki; it is an important treatment of Reiki where you can promote healing within yourself, spiritually, physically and mentally.   Once you have the first Reiki attunement, you will develop your own routines which will further help you feel balanced promoting clarity throughout your day. You can practice these healing techniques anytime, at any place.

Examples of Reiki Self-Treatment

In the beginning of my Reiki Journey, I would practice a full body self-treatment every morning; you do not have to be a Reiki Master to do Reiki.  You only need to be attuned to the Reiki Energies.

As my life and schedule became busier I found on some mornings my self treatments getting shorter and shorter.  Over a course of time and practice I developed a few techniques that work for me beautifully that I will share with you.  I continue to practice Reiki daily, not only on others, which is a form of self treatment in of itself.

A meditation and self-treatment in the morning to start my day off; I complete my morning meditation, whether it is 5 minutes or half hour…. I then follow it with a Reiki self treatment.  Here is a quick self treatment when I only have a few minutes.  Being that I am already in meditation, my space is safe and set.  You set your sacred space as you choose. It could be as simple as your intention and a lit candle.

I call upon the intended symbols I want to invoke and take my deep breaths…. And with intention, I focus on every energy center (chakra) calling each of my chakras into the space of my hands/palms, I then call in ‘any and all things specific’ that I want included in this treatment (situations, aliments etc.) Breathing deep with each request, calling in each body part starting with my feet, legs, hips, back, arms, shoulders etc…(call in what you like) and with your intention and breathe; place your whole energy body in your hands/palms…. Cup your hands together in a prayer position (at heart center) and treat the energy in your hands, ‘your full energy’ body for 3 minutes (or more)…and remember to breathe deep, relax and know it is done… I set my ego aside and close with a prayer asking for continuous guidance; I am in grace and gratitude.

Once or twice a week I will do a traditional ‘long-form’ full body Reiki Treatment as described in The Secret Of Reiki Home Study Course.

Just remember, ALWAYS REMEMBER, whatever the Reiki Symbols or rituals in whatever the form of Reiki Treatment you are invoking or using…

YOU are calling on the source of the power with your intentions.

So just like you would pick out your clothes for the day or your favorite foods, create and practice a Reiki daily ritual and see what you feel most comfortable with; the Reiki ritual which is most comfortable for you will work best for you.

Leave a comment or share your personal ideas and experiences, I look forward to hearing from you. Namaste’

Trust what you are drawn to…be creative with your
Reiki Self-Treatment Rituals

Letting Go Creates Reiki’s Flow-

Posted September 15th, 2009

The summer coming to end and fall coming upon us, it is nice to spend some quality time at the beach.  As I was sitting at the beach this past weekend, I watched and listen to the waves, listen to the birds singing, observed airplanes flying above, surfers in the water, chatter of families and children at play….

It was only moments into my state of meditation I notice a young mother with her two children reacting in fear, “don’t go near the water, you could drown, don’t sit in the sand, sit on your towel, be careful with your sand shovels, you will put your sister’s eye out”… and on it went!”    As far as I could see this family outing was full of chaos and fear, I could feel the ‘static energy’ in the air.

Wow, I could only imagine that is exactly what the children’s mother heard all her life…. Fear based direction, impacting her and now mimicking her taught behaviors. Over a period of time the fear and behaviors would create static and blockage in her energy body which would likely manifest into dis-ease or aliments in her physical body; and as we have all been guilty of; passing this energy, attitude and behavior off to the children.

Ok, time to call in the healing, starting with knowledge, change and new thought patterns, after-all we only know what we know…. Right!

The energy body is an exact duplicate of the physical body, except it is made up of a much finer substance and vibration. This is the battery for your body that supplies the energy you need to live a long and healthy life. Your energy body is your life-force and breathes while living in the physical body. Without it, no physical existence is possible, and when your energy body is full of static or blockage it will manifest dis-ease or illnesses at a physical level.

Healing is limited only by the imagination. It is activated through your focused intention and manifests in one of the many dimensions in your mind. Reiki techniques employ the more subtle energies, shifting and releasing blocked energy; promoting healing of your whole being.

So how do these mimicked thoughts, words and behaviors cause blocked energy in your body and then possibly manifest into illness and dis-ease?

Well, let’s simplify this; it is no secret thought creates an action or re-action. Your actions or re-actions affect your energy body. Your energy body or life-force responds with a balanced flow of energy or with static and blockage…. Negative thoughts and behavior create blockage and positive thoughts and behavior create a balanced flow in your energy body.

So- as I sat in the sand, I grabbed hands full of sand, one in each hand.  I held the sand in my left hand very tight…. Holding on so tight, the sand slowly slipped out of the cracks of my palm, slipping out like an hour glass by my pinky finger.  In my right hand I held the sand with open palm, as I sat and observed the peaceful energy of it calmly sitting in place, no static and not loosing a single grain.

It came to mind, this is how the energy works in our bodies. All the stress of holding on to negative thoughts and behaviors cause the tightness, stress, loosing energy and creating blocked energy in our body, just like the sand being squeezed out of the palm of my left hand.   Where in the right hand, no stress and chaos, allowing the sand to be present in the palm of my hand, just like positive thoughts allow the flow of energy in your body…. An interesting comparison I know, but holds true and keeps it simple!

As a Reiki Teacher, I first teach the understanding of ‘the core and process of energy’.  It is then you learn about Reiki and how Reiki techniques alleviate stress, pain, illness and dis-ease in the mental, spiritual and physical bodies.

Reiki is free; and you can become a Reiki Master- it just requires the tools to learn, practice and your intention and commitment. The more aware you become of the ‘root cause’ of blocked energy in your body, creating illness, physical aliments and dis-ease, the better chance you promote healing starting at the root level- your thoughts, behaviors and re-actions affect your energy body; the more you learn to shift your thoughts, words, behaviors and actions, the more you promote healing in your life.

Release the resentments, disappointments, fear and chaos in your life, at least those you have control or choice to release.  Be aware of how each situation, thought and action you take daily affects your whole being.  Practice meditation in its many forms along with Reiki, even if just a few moments a day… Namaste’

Reiki and Claiming the Empty Spaces

Posted September 2nd, 2009

I certainly hope this message finds you all doing well and unwinding from a full summer. I can not believe we are in September already. Before you know it, we will all be out shopping for the holidays. Yikes! Now is really a good time to begin thinking about your holidays, sharing and planning for the fall and winter season.  Plan something new, an adventure, holiday gathering or something new for your family time.

I recently returned from a great trip in Ohio and New Jersey.  Summer has been quite interesting to say the least. The entire year has been in a shift of energy for everyone.  During this time I experienced ‘idle time’ sitting out on the waters of Lake Erie and was able to reflect filling the empty spaces that lied within me with positive thoughts and energy; which in turn, allowed me to have clear thoughts to create and move forward with my Reiki and Intuitive Communications projects that have been sitting idle.

I noticed in doing Reiki and Intuitive Readings this summer,  that many people are in the same boat and at times it feels as if our boats are just floating idle in the powerful waters. Hang in there because the whole year will not be a wash out, Numerology tells me that it’s an ‘eleven year’ which is a year that will bring challenges to all of us. There have certainly been challenges and lessons for just about everyone I know. The gift of lessons surrounding each challenge we face will come forward. It always does, the experience is truly the gift of wisdom.

Many of my clients have mentioned feeling stuck lately. While this is understandable, I believe the experience of feeling stuck is actually an illusion. We all have an abundance of gifts, skills, talents and abilities, both conscious and subconscious; available to help us transform our lives in dynamic ways at any point. Yet we often allow these abilities to lay dormant as we follow the easier or more frequently traveled path in our life. A well-traveled path can still lead you to the same dead end. A familiar road is not always a safe road. It is this type of automatic living that robs you of your nature state of vibrancy and joyfulness, leaving you feeling dull and restless, even bored.

Claim the idle time in your life and the empty space within, step outside your patterns and habits to create new experiences.

I invite you to recognize that in every moment, the Universe is sending you an invitation to live the life you are meant to live. It is up to you to accept. How do you accept this invitation? The answer is simple; it’s through your intention and by your actions.

So, with that said, I invite you to say “yes” to the unexpected opportunities in your life. Especially if they scare you to your core! Then see where the path takes you, one step at a time.

For example, events or situations can change your day in just a moments notice. Let’s say, you’re just about to leave for your hair appointment, when you receive a phone call saying the stylist has been called out on emergency and will have to reschedule your appointment. Congratulations! You are the winner of one unexpected free hour! What will you do with your winnings?

Ever consider doing nothing?  Reclaiming the Empty Spaces?

If you’re like many of us today, the thought of doing absolutely nothing for an entire hour seems as wasteful as throwing a week’s worth of groceries out with the garbage.  I see vibration of panic daily….. And free time with nothing to do can generate near panic among many who are overloaded and time-starved. “We seem to have a complex about busyness in our culture,” Most of us do have time in our days that we could devote to simple relaxation, but we convince ourselves that we don’t.”

And yet, the harder we push, the more we need to replenish ourselves. “Each of us needs some time that are strictly and entirely our own, and we should experience it daily, filling the Empty Space that lies within”
The importance of this downtime cannot be overstated. We see more clearly, we hear more keenly, we’re more inspired, we discover what makes us feel alive. By habit, we often fill the empty space within with stress, chaos, disappointment or anger by days end.

On some level, you know this already. But claiming time to yourself–time that is often labeled “unproductive”–and sticking to it can be difficult. You need to establish formal boundaries around your idle time to ensure that others and “you” honor this time.

Some ways to do this are:

  • Make a date with yourself. Get to know someone who deserves your attention–you.
  • Stand firm. Learn how to say “no” to co-workers, children, a spouse or a friend. In just a short while, you can say “yes,” but now is your time.
  • Be clear about your needs. It’s not, “I need more time to myself.” It’s more like, “I’d like to spend 30 minutes by myself in the morning before everyone gets up.”
  • Be on the lookout for stolen moments. Use the canceled hair appointment to sit on a park bench or the beach.
  • Practice doing nothing. “Doing nothing” is an art, and like all art you need to practice it to reach your highest potential.

How we define idle time varies by individual. For example, for one person, gardening may be meditative downtime, whereas for another, the beach, woods, ocean, lake or mountains are all great places to go to reflect and gather your thoughts, an opportunity to be in and with nature; or it’s a great time for a power walk or sit in your car while listening to your favorite music.  Yet for others, a new or different experience, meditation in one of it’s many forms and the practice of Reiki; whether it is sharing in a Reiki Circle, a spiritual gathering or a self Reiki treatment, claim your idle time, a great secret to a productive life.

The practice of Reiki has taught me that in the chaos of everyday living it continues to clear my thoughts, energy and bring balance and clarity to my life and those around me.  As a Reiki Teacher, it is important to take care of myself first, to be centered and clear in my thoughts, but I also had to learn this, it is not something society told me to practice daily.

Your idle time should pose no “to do list” or obligations: it may seem to have no purpose. It’s just there. And yet, your idle time will bring the most purpose into your day; it refreshes you, recharges you, brings balance and clarity to your thoughts and actions and will fill the empty spaces within, a great form of self-love.

Life can often feel like you’re on an out-of-control treadmill as you try your best to keep up with a pace that feels uncomfortable to maintain.

The irony of this treadmill of life, is realizing it may only stop when you do. By pausing, you are now free to take a deeper look into the world surrounding you, inviting the wisdom of infinite truth to reveal itself as you begin to learn what deeper meaning hides in the form of your reality.

This deeper meaning changes how you view the external world which now becomes the gift surrounding the hidden treasures of love the universe offers to you in every present moment.

Do something that has no purpose other than joy. Take a half-hour a day to surprise, delight and bring balance your life. Keep it simple, and keep it consistent. It’s stunning, how refreshing and simple it really is.

Relation-Shifts…

Posted August 20th, 2009

One of my passions is to understand the connection that we create on a much higher level. This article only touches the surface of this rich and amazing subject, yet it will help you open the door to communication and your personal relationship with yourself, others and Reiki.

The relationship you have with yourself and establish with others – reflects the relationship you will have with Reiki………

First is to realize that Quantum physics, which is the study of the building blocks of the universe, tells us that everything is made up energy. Even our bodies, actually, everything is made up of ‘large groups’ of subatomic particles including plants, trees, thoughts and light. The only difference is the way these particles are grouped together into the building blocks.

The studies now being done in the neurosciences have shown that thoughts are biochemical and electrical. Thoughts are real things. And that our mind is photons of light held in an electromagnetic field.

We as electromagnet beings of energy give off and pick up energy when we interact with other people. And there is a fundamental need in us to connect in some form with one another.

The studies have also shown that we see the world not as it is, but as we are. And when we go to connect or communicate with another person, it is based on our assumptions…

  • beliefs
  • values
  • attitudes
  • intentions

The success or failure of the connection will be based on much of this.
There is also a need to have our external world match our internal world and you will often sabotage what is before you if it doesn’t match your inner belief systems.

At the quantum (energetic) level we are all connected and we tend to attract people at the same frequencies that we are. This can be the frequencies of our attitudes, beliefs or feelings at the moment.

Because our brain wants to seek out information that matches its belief system, it will attract other people, places, events and situations that coincide with that belief. We send out a vibration, which is attracted to the same frequencies.
If you have heard the saying, “Birds of a Feather, Flock together”, you can understand the basis of the science. Before modern times with media and advertising, people of the same mindset found each other.

This is why so many people get trapped in remaining at a level that they don’t want to be. They are attracting the same types of people, events and situations into their lives.

To change this, it is important to change the way you communicate with yourself. Look at what you are telling yourself. What are the attitudes that you are repeating. If you state that it is a hard, cruel world, then that is what you will manifest in your world. Subsequently, if you state that there are wonderful and helpful people, you will find them.

It is important to tell and train your self to be open to learning new ideas and thoughts. You need to change your vibration level and then communicate with others at a higher level. Through modern equipment, science has seen the different vibrations that we are projecting.

  • Negative emotions vibrate long and slow
  • Positive emotions vibrate shorter and faster

For example; resentments, road rage etc, create low frequency vibrations. This creates inability to create your desires.  However, quantum physics has also shown us that we have the amazing power to change our lives.

If you have or are experiencing a long relationship or marriage, then you know that during those “many” years, you have had to ‘grow’ your relationship to keep up with your growth as an individual. Many times it is stretched to the limit. For example; a lot of growth came when I moved into this work. After all, when I married, I was not working as a Reiki Master Teacher, Clairvoyant, Intuitive Communicator and Author.  We must all continue to learn and grow at every level of our being to feel whole, progress and know self-love.

I see this over and over, where someone ‘explodes’ into this energy and their relationship does not survive the shift. One partner outgrows the other or one takes a different exit off the highway they both traveled.  On the other hand, not all relationships are meant to survive long term, however; in fact, hindsight and group studies have shown me many relationships that were originally set up only so that one person could define themselves enough to move forward with their life.  Every relationship is a teacher; ok, well, that is another article by itself, see Mirror Relationships .

The issue of relationships continues to be a big one as we move forward into our evolution. There are the relationships that are built on the ability to grow together…”move into new perceptions and energy together”.

We’ll call these “relation-shifts”.

Common components found in successful relation-shifts include:

  • communication
  • respect
  • trust
  • sharing
  • individuality
  • self-care
  • avoid blame and judgment
  • do not make assumptions
  • perception
  • acceptance

A sense of trust is present when each person feels safe to be open, honest and genuine.
Respect helps build this through not judging or criticizing the other’s opinions, feelings and beliefs.
Acceptance is a great form of respect.  This does not mean to just support or accept negative or harmful behaviors.
Listen; everyone has a perception. Take care of yourself. It is your responsibility to know what you want and determine how to achieve that, and be successful. It is not okay to blame someone for your errors, mishaps or failure.  Communicate and assert yourself to become who you see yourself to be.

So let’s talk about your Relation-Shifts with Reiki.

Each one of us has the power to heal. The path to healing lies through greater awareness of and connection with the life-force energy of the Universe.  Reiki is a healing system of great power and simplicity, which opens a doorway to this connection and begins a journey of healing and awareness.

I encourage using Reiki in a variety of settings to increase your experiential understanding of this ancient form of healing. Alignment with yourself and being Reiki is an ongoing process. Willingness to continuously engage in this process furthers your evolution and can lead to the sustained recognition and ultimate experience that you are universal life force.

You create your personal relationship with Reiki starting with your …

  • Thoughts and Intention
  • Perceptions
  • Commitment
  • Self-Care
  • Avoid blame and Judgment
  • Sharing
  • Practice

An Initiation or Attunement alone does not make you a Reiki Master. Commitment and the intention to practice Reiki produces increased self-awareness, expanding your relationship with Reiki, with your Self, and with the world. The focus of Reiki or Reiki Master Teacher Training is a process, not just content. Your deep involvement with Reiki does the training, provides experience and promotes your inner wisdom to awaken and promotes mental, spiritual and physical healing as well.

My question to you is, “Do you deserve peace, joy and healing in your life?” Yes you do, we all do.  The self awareness that will be brought forward in your learning; experiencing Reiki at every level will provide you just that… you will be self empowered.  Reiki is a journey starting at the root level of thought and how that affects your energy at every level.

My role is to provide you with tools, witness, mentor, reflect, question, guide, document, and encourage you; which is the purpose of my blog and home study course.  The Reiki energy, your experience, my support, together with your commitment and passion create a synergistic training finely-tuned to you and your needs. The Secret of Reiki Home Study Course empowers you to become the Reiki Practitioner or Reiki Master/Reiki Teacher that you are meant to be, along with insight on how to start a Reiki Business and much more.

If you are a Reiki Teacher, then you will also find a wealth of information to continuing learning and sharing with your clients and students.  The Course on Intuition and a complete manual for you teach and refresh your inner knowing.  I invite you to write and send articles for posting as well as comments of your insights and experiences surrounding Reiki on The Secret Of Reiki blog site.

Share your experiences, ask questions, comment with answers and commit to yourself.  Life is a journey, share your journey today!

Seeing Western Medicine Accurately

Posted August 16th, 2009

As I always encourage, I am posting an article sent by Member Don Beckett written as a follow up to a recent article posted on The Secret Of Reiki.  Thank You Don for your insight and article, Namaste’

By Don Beckett  ReikiTheTrueStory.com / johreiki.net

This is a confirmation and extension of Kimberlee’s article “Reiki and Western Medicine.” To me, western medicine is absolutely a last-resort, life-or-death option (and I’m thankful to it for saving my life, at least a couple times!).  In life-or-death situations, drugs and/or surgery are sometimes the only things that can keep us in the physical body … but it’s important to realize the difference between such emergency provisions and real healing.

I think the only “problem” with western medicine is that it has come to be perceived as something it is not.  It does NOT heal anything.  Its only benefit is, in emergency situations, to keep us alive (through extreme measures) long enough that the body’s natural healing ability has time to function.

What western medicine does is to suppress the symptoms or effects of disease and injury.  This suppression is responsible for its life-saving function … and also responsible for its equally damaging effects when applied for long periods of time.  Drugs and surgery do not address the CAUSE of illness, and therefore cannot possibly heal it.  The best they can do is to keep the body alive long enough that it can overcome the damaging effects of the “medicine” and heal itself…!

It disturbs me that the drug industry has brainwashed people (including doctors) into taking (and prescribing) handfuls of pills every day!  Even the drug manufacturers admit that their pills don’t heal anything, that they merely suppress unpleasant symptoms (while often creating equally unpleasant and dangerous effects of their own) … but no one seems to connect the dots to where this leads!  The energetic effects of drugs are so extreme — almost unimaginably so! — That they cause great imbalance in the body.  They suppress the symptoms of disease by literally pushing the energy of the disease deep into the body and trapping it there!  People feel better, because the symptoms have been hidden; and they make the mistake of believing that the drugs have healed them.

Until recent years, this was not such a dangerous mistake.  When I was a child, for instance — and even after that — doctors did not generally prescribe a drug for extended periods of time.  Drugs were seen (accurately) as emergency measures; they were taken for relatively short times, only until the body could heal itself sufficiently that the suppression of symptoms was no longer necessary.  Then, without the continued intake of the drug, the body could heal the original disease and also (eventually) rid itself of the drug toxins.  But nowadays the whole strategy is to get as many people as possible taking as many drugs as possible, every day for the rest of their lives!  (Ka-ching, ka-ching — listen to the Song of the Cash Registers!!)

What people are not seeing in this picture (though I can’t imagine why) is that, after years of daily pill-taking, the body eventually breaks down to such a point that it can no longer hold the trapped and destructive energies of the mountains of pills that have been consumed.  These extreme energies finally break loose and create havoc in the body (and people say things like, “I don’t understand it — I haven’t been sick a day in the past 20 years, and now suddenly, overnight, my whole body is full of cancer!”) … and, at that point, nothing can overcome them.

Thanks to this campaign by the drug industry, it has now become a life-and-death matter that we not succumb to their brainwashing!  It’s crucial that we see western medicine for what it really is – extreme, emergency treatment – and that we use it only in that way.  Any pills taken for long periods of time will have unintended and dangerous consequences.  Therefore, it’s important that we take them for no longer than truly necessary – and that we incorporate things into our daily life that bring us true healing and balance.

We must realize that everything physical arises from the spiritual and that physical and spiritual cannot be separated (as long as we are functioning in a physical world, at least).  We must take responsibility for our own health – and one way of doing so is to incorporate into our daily life some practice that keeps us aware of our Source and real Self (which is the only source of true health).  My preferences in this respect have been Reiki, Johrei, and Macrobiotics – which, of course, are only 3 of countless options, all of which are merely pathways to the one and only goal, Self-realization.

Finally, I would like to address 2 other points mentioned in Kimberlee’s “Reiki and Western Medicine” article: human lifespan, and viruses and bacteria.
We are often told that modern medicine has dramatically increased human lifespan; that, just a few hundred years ago, the average lifespan was only 40-some years!  While this may be statistically true, it’s often asserted to give a very false impression.  The key word here is average.  The average lifespan was 40-some years – not because most people only lived that long, but because great numbers of people lived only 1 year or less!  Before certain sanitation practices were widely established, the infant mortality rate was gigantic – and, for example, in a population of 100 people, if 50 of those people die at age 1 and the other 50 live to be 100 … the average lifespan is only 50.5 years!

So, the fact is, most people hundreds of years ago were living just as long as most people today.  I would even say, their lives were generally healthier than ours.  Their world was exponentially less polluted, their lives were so much simpler, and most of them were more aware of the connection to their spiritual Source.  And they did not end their lives addicted to pills and invaded by mechanical contraptions.  (And, if we look way far back in history, we find accounts of people routinely living to the age of several hundred years!)

As for bacteria and viruses: Beyond the undeniable fact that modern medicine has been responsible for exponentially increasing the number and the vitality of them, I’ll say only that the very nature of bacteria and viruses – their place in the real scheme of life – is misunderstood by most people.  Here’s a link to a further explanation of this — http://usui-reiki.johreiki.net/Reiki_Questions.php.  On that page, if you click on Question #3 (about viral disease), you’ll see an answer that may surprise you….

Tell me your BELIEFS….

Posted August 8th, 2009

…and I will tell you what your life looks like

So ask yourself;

  • What are your beliefs surrounding money?
  • What are your beliefs surrounding success and business?
  • What are your beliefs surrounding love and relationships?
  • What do you believe you deserve in this lifetime?
  • Do you deserve to be happy?
  • Do you deserve to truly have the life of your dreams?

I have had several questions this past month surrounding the issue of beliefs and patterns; so let me bring forward some insight that may help you.

Beliefs are any ideas you think are true about yourself, others, and life. Do you have clarity about what you believe, who you are, what you want, and why you want it?  Unfortunately, it has been my experience that most people aren’t aware of their beliefs, many beliefs of which are acquired as children. You can live your whole life unaware of how you’re beliefs are effecting your feelings, thoughts and actions or you can move forward with learning and taking action to a prosperous and fulfilling life.
First off, be aware that some beliefs are counter-productive to what you say you want. Wouldn’t it be nice to identify those beliefs and examine them for validity? Here are just a few self-defeating beliefs I’ve identified; do you believe any of the following?

Self Defeating Beliefs

  • I can’t change. This is just the way I am or I am just like dad/mom.
  • My feelings are natural reactions, not something I can control.
  • I have to have [love, sex, or money] in order to be happy.
  • No pain, no gain.
  • Everyone in my family gets cancer (or illnesses)
  • People who are optimistic aren’t realistic.
  • You can’t have your cake and eat it too.
  • If happiness was my priority, I’d be inconsiderate of others.

Changing Your Beliefs

So far this article and this site have mainly engaged you at the reading level. Changing the beliefs that are causing you to be discontent or in pain is where the rubber really hits the road. If you are serious about wanting to turn your life around, you’re going to have to go beyond simply reading. You will not experience change reading about ideas. Oh, don’t misunderstand me,  I’m all for ideas and I love to read too; but real change doesn’t happen until it’s personal, experienced, usually fear based and taking new action.

Reiki and Western Medicine

Posted July 27th, 2009

Question: If I am practicing Reiki and other Healing Modalities, can I stop seeing my doctor and stop medications?

Answer; Well, No, not without discussing it with your doctor.  But, I would look closer at the core issues of your dis-comforts, dis-orders or illness…. I will answer this question with information to bring forward guidance….

Well, one thing for sure, we can’t deny worldwide that there is a general acceptance of the superiority of Western Medicine over all the healing arts. When in the past, humanity has been plagued by virus and bacteria such as the Black Death, the yellow fever, and other epidemics that killed thousands, now we can say that we are in full control of even the smallest strain of virus and bacteria.

If we take a quick review, we know our lifespan has significantly increased, health care has really improved and we have been dependent on the solutions that modern medicine provides. In fact, western medicine has been so proud- even to the point of ridiculing various types of alternative medicine such as massage, meditation, Reiki energy healing and many other modalities.

Let’s take a look at the other side of Western Medicine, Not all of western medicine can be considered good; yes, we were able to develop vaccinations and immunizations, yet we have in effect helped virus develop into new and difficult strains. In fact, many diseases existing today are an indirect result of modern medicine. Another backlash is that we have been fixated with the short term solutions to illness provided by modern medicine and have forgotten to analyze the other aspects or the deeper root cause of disease. Let’s take the common headache as an example; every time we have a headache, we usually take a pain reliever. But do you ever really analyze the stress or psychological, emotional and spiritual dimensions of having a headache?  We have not been taught or even think that an honest-to-goodness reflection and meditation could have the same effect as pharmaceuticals. Here lays the situation, we have been stressing too much on the physical body and have totally forgotten the role of the heart, the mind, and the spirit (life-force) to the question of health or disease.

Take a minute and ask yourself, has your life become to stressful? Do you move and act like a robot, really working hard energetically, mentally and physically to make a living, without taking some time to regain balance? Do you even know how to regain balance or have you ever considered that? Over time stress will take its toll on your health, on your emotional well being and on your emotional state. Modern medicine has cures for the manifestations and symptoms of the disease but not the root cause. Take into consideration the perception here, if your lifestyle and the current societal structures compel you to work like a machine and to believe everything you are told to think is truth, maybe it is time to reflect and make some changes; is it time for some balance!

So, how do you reflect? Energy is central to everything you do and is actually a basic premise of Eastern medicine but has no name in Western Medicine.  Hindu, Chinese, and Japanese healing arts have a name for different types of energy such as chi, ki, shen, jing, and utilize this knowledge for healing.  But in fact, alternative healing has a more comprehensive and encompassing framework that considers the emotional, mental, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects of any dis-comfort, illness or dis-ease.  Every aspect of any dis-ease start with thoughts having their impact on your ‘body’s energy centers’ called chakras. A few quite moments, meditation, affirmations and Reiki actually work wonders promoting a positive flow of energy, good health and well-being as a whole.  Find a few minutes throughout the day to breathe, meditate in one of its many forms, learn and practice Reiki or other modalities…. You really only need a few moments throughout the day to start…. First thing in the morning, lunch break or the moments in bed at night, quiet time, you will find the time, you must!  I find that when I take time to re-group, decompress and reflect, I am able to come back stronger, balanced and relaxed; even if that means “turn the TV, phone and chaos off to retreat to the balcony with a cup of hot tea!  The greatest masters of all time always took a week or two at a time to reflect in solitude.

Your emotion; which is a given fact of life must be factored in as a major cause of dis-ease. It is a fact that when you have negative thoughts, unbalanced energy or stressful emotions, your immune systems collapse. Your energy body will experience blockage and your physical body becomes susceptible to various types of illness, dis-ease and infections. That works both ways, on the other hand; when you experience love, happiness or excitement and you have positive thoughts, your life-force (energy), spiritual body and immune system becomes stronger, and your positive thoughts promote a constant flow in your life force or energetic balance, promoting your well being at every level.  Dis-ease is due to your life force misalignment. By realigning yourself to be in harmony with the spiritual force, the life-force, which makes up the entire universe- your physical, emotional, and even spiritual ailments will disappear.

In Japan, the ancient healing art taught by Reiki Master Teachers considers all these as movements and dynamics of energy; the secret in healing is therefore wholesome, all-sided, and grounded in the various aspects of self and lifestyle; starting with your thoughts, attitude and perceptions or your life.

I will be the first to tell you there is a place for both Western and Eastern Medicine.  They must work together and not against each other.

Within each discipline, there is an enormous amount of time tested information that has its own logic and usefulness. Both Western and Eastern systems have their place. I believe that the greatest strength of Western Medicine is in its trauma care and therapies for acute situations, while Eastern medicine excels in the areas of chronic situations and preventive medicine.

Reiki is now widely practiced in the western world particularly in the United States, Europe and growing. Reiki Teachers and Practitioners are now working in hospitals where they assist patients during critical medical procedures.

  • One of the largest hospitals in northern California is the California Pacific Medical Center and here, Dr. Mike Cantwell, a pediatrician specializing in infectious diseases, provides one to three hour-long Reiki sessions. When asked how Reiki helps his patients Cantwell said, “I have found Reiki to be useful in the treatment of acute illnesses such as musculoskeletal injury, pain, headache, acute infections and asthma. Reiki is also useful for patients with chronic illnesses especially those associated with chronic pain.”
  • Dr. Mehmet Oz, who is one of the leading cardiovascular surgeons in the United States was one of the first to include a Reiki practitioner in his department at The Columbia Presbyterian Medical Centre in New York City where he runs the heart assist device program and the Complementary Care Centre. The New York Times Magazine reported that Dr. Oz has allowed the use of Reiki during open heart surgeries and heart transplant operations. Says Dr. Oz: “Reiki has become a sought-after healing art among patients and mainstream medical professionals.”

Traditional Reiki Master Teachers and practitioners believe that we all have the ability to heal ourselves because universal energy flows through each of us. But the stress of modern living usually blocks this flow. However, a person who has a regular spiritual practice that includes silence, solitude and any form of meditation or prayer can readily access Reiki and use it for self-healing. You can follow the basic hand positions for self-healing and with practice you can experience this very simple yet immensely powerful natural way of healing.

Chakra Balancing with Reiki

Posted July 15th, 2009

We’re like fish in the ocean looking for water. Now scientists are finally catching up with our ancestors and realizing that everything behaves like electricity because everything is energy.  Chi, prana, ki, the life-force, electricity are all around- “Energy”.

Chakras are made of energy – and they are responsible for directing the flow of energy through your body. Your Chakras may be open, spinning, flowing or be dense and blocked; depending on your mental state or your thoughts and your spiritual state at any given time.

While you cannot actually see the Chakras, they are an important part of every human being and they are vital to your physical, mental and spiritual well being.  They are located along a line running from the top of the head to the base of the spine and each energy center is associated with a different part of the body.

Every thought, feeling and your senses are integrated with a different Chakra. When you are experiencing stress, your Chakras can become out of balance, which can lead to physical illness.

When your Chakras are working at the correct frequency, then mind, body and spirit can work together harmoniously.

To regain or maintain health, Chakra balancing with Reiki is something to be practiced periodically.

I received this question last week along with others that surround the issue of chakra balancing….

Q… What do I do in order to open up my chakras???

A…Regardless of what you may have heard…your chakras are NEVER closed or not working - it’s an absolute impossibility! They are always open - without these powerful energy centers, your physical body couldn’t be here. Energy responds to the focus of your thoughts and intention; by focusing your intention using meditation and Reiki, you start to move or shift your energy and affect the energy surrounding you.

Your thoughts create everything in your reality and in your life, so as soon as you ‘even think’ you might think of energizing your chakras- it has begun…You then concentrate your thoughts and intentions by using Reiki, which enhances your point of focus to create an energetic response; hence, flow of energy.

So how do you go about ‘opening up your chakras’ (or more correctly speaking - expanding and energizing them)?

The major Chakras have their own area of responsibility and each is linked with a different part of the endocrine system. They are part and parcel of each and every sensation, thought, feeling and emotional experience that we have.

Stress and fearful emotions can imbalance you’re Chakras – you can see this in the form of dis-ease or physical illness; like I have mentioned, illness is often a sign that your Chakras are out of balance.   In order to keep your Chakras flowing at peak efficiency, they need to be working together as a team. Think of Chakra Balancing as a sort of tune up for the human body and soul.

While there are a lot of different ways to balance your Chakras, Reiki has been shown time and time again to be one of the most effective methods of all.  A simple practice and very effective way to incorporate Reiki for your everyday use is to sit quietly… Draw out all the Reiki symbols over your palms, and choose a Reiki symbol that suits the occasion. The power symbol works well for energizing you but the mental and emotional one would be great to calm you after an emotional upset.

If you are not yet trained in Reiki or you are new to this modality please see The Secret Of Reiki Home Study Course for direction and guidance.

Starting at your crown chakra draw out the symbol, choose a suitable affirmation of your own and Reiki over each of your major chakras.  Then draw out one large power symbol in the front of you and seal the process with divine love and wisdom.  Sit with your hands placed comfortably on you (anywhere that feels right at the time) and simply let the Reiki energy fill and refresh you.  Feel free to incorporate any rituals that feel right to you in your Reiki Practice.  And remember to breathe, deep breaths!

In order to keep your Chakras working at peak efficiency, they need to be working together as a team. Think of Chakra Balancing as a sort of tune up for your body and your spiritual being.

The Power within You!

Posted July 7th, 2009

Are you ready to look at your self and look at what is fuelling your motives in life? Are you ready to embark on a journey of personal growth? We have all been conditioned by society, our genetic behavioral patterns as well as our parent’s programming.

  • Where Am I?
  • Am I truly in my power?
  • Or am I conditioned?
  • What are my strategies?
  • Am I still operating from my childhood wounding?
  • Or am I just the victim of circumstances?
  • Do I sabotage opportunities in my life or do I just procrastinate?

It’s now time to make the decision and come into your power of choice; it’s no secret that you can change your patterns and come into your power. Thought is energy and energy is everything.  In changing your thoughts you can see new perceptions, which will change your attitudes and in fact, changes the flow of your life force. The flow of your life force/energy changes your physical well being…….. Reiki promotes well being at every level starting with a single thought.

Each level of power in the Human Energy
is a simply level of consciousnesses

The first level is Tribal; Tribal power is called the group mind… we all begin with a group system of thought, family.  We are born plugged into family perceptions, spirituality or religion, politics, family behaviors, patterns and all the family dynamics. At the tribal level of perception, ingrained behavior and patterns you are learning and working at the speed of the group (your family), therefore you will evolve at the speed of your group/family.  Your sense of power, your sense and beliefs at every level of life and healing, your behaviors and patterns/habits, your creativity  are all evolving at the speed of the group/family.

Tribal – Group system of thought or energy ‘the tribe’; family, society, friends, colleagues, school, team sports, networking groups etc.  In every tribe there is a leader, you all know them; the one who stands out and sets the energy and attitude of the tribe. He/she speaks the rules, rituals and the atmosphere of the boundaries or not.  Often mimics patterns from generation to generation. It is our human nature to fit in and be a part of the tribe.

The question is; what “part” of the tribe are you or
have you been taught to be?

At a tribal level of thought, the tribal energy controls, it determines who you can or can not love, what types of food you eat, your level of education and so forth…. the tribal law will dictate to you based on your heritage and all you have been taught since birth. It is generally based on cultures and goes on for generations.

Individual power- Reflects the self; a different level of perception.  You now want to take responsibility for the ideas, attitudes of your spirit and thoughts.  You shift out of tribal thoughts, behaviors, patterns and language.  You are now operating from different level of power. You have a strong sense of “I”, a sense of your inner wisdom and beliefs. Your speed of evolving is different; it is much faster coming from a higher vibration or intuitive senses.  You may not understand it to start with, but you in fact know it is your inner truth and it just is!  It is your spiritual nature to live your truth.

The question is; are you willing to take responsibility in your truth?

At the individual level of power, you are now calling on your truth and must take responsibility for it, changing tribal thoughts to your inner wisdom and truth, changing the dynamics of the tribe’s perception of you.  As you evolve at a greater speed, your life will change dramatically.  Do you dare live your truth at a higher vibration if it means the tribe disagrees with your perceptions?  As you become more aware of your spiritual self (self realization), you must set your ego aside, do not judge when being judged, positive thoughts and actions will shift your energy and attitude to new levels of clarity and awareness.

Example;
Let’s say; you experience an illness that may take time to be healed.  Your tribe says, you will be out of work and it is not possible to heal such an illness in a short period of time… the medical staff (tribe) has determined you will be sick for months.  Your individual power or energy says; “NO, that may be true for you, but healing works for me…I will be well within a very short time period and promote my healing to do so-“and you will!

Symbolic Power –
This is when you can separate from self; you can look at life from a much higher point of view, or look at your life from within by stepping outside your “ego” self. You step out of fear of judgment, including judging yourself.  You see and change situations, attitudes, behaviors and patterns that block your growth at every level of life.  You are able to learn from it without feeling threatened.  You no longer live in “bondage of self”.  It is known as a new freedom and movement of Self Realization that comes from you inner wisdom.

The question is; are you willing to look within and accept any consequences your truth may bring forward?

Moving into the Symbolic level of power, you will experience a shift and change in tribal energy, and the tribe itself.  You will find that you interact with a new tribe, one that vibrates or moves at a different pace of growth, a stronger sense of self-realization.  Your behaviors, patterns, intuitive senses, self-esteem, self-confidence and awareness are at a higher level bringing forward new experiences and inner wisdom- a new “knowing”.  Your intuitive experiences become much clearer. You find that old behavior and patterns no longer serve you, you have a sense of confidence in your perceptions.  You begin to ask more questions and the speed of growth is at an all time high.

Example; A friend of mine recently contacted me after having a “symbolic” experience.  He saw an Orb (energy) in his yard.  Not with his imagination, not with his minds eye but with his human eyes.  He described it as floating around the yard and it had manifest in a ball like or clear circle shape form, just floating.  He received chills, questions of disbelief and I am sure looked more than once.  Now, Orbs of energy exist around us everywhere, everyday…. But have you experienced “seeing” one?

With this experience, brings growth at a high level of speed.  Many questions come forward; did this really happen? What do I do next? What does it mean? Why did it happen to me? Is this a sign? Have I judge people that share experiences that I did not have therefore doubt or laugh at them? How do I process this change of thought pattern or doubt? How does this change my perception of life itself? If he continues on his path to “spiritual growth” which simply means “self realization”, he will get answers and the answers will most likely bring forward more questions.  He is stepping outside of self to see the bigger picture, exploring the meaning of it all, and over time more answers will be revealed.

Now, If this was your story, how many are willing to go to your tribe and tell this story, would your tribe believe it or not.  Be careful not to judge others experiences just because they are not your experiences… you will miss life’s lessons.  Three levels of Power exist within you…

Well-being is a state of mind and state of presence.  Have you been locked into the mentality that if you get sick you just take a pill or see a doctor and it gets fixed.  Well, on the surface it may?  Look at the root cause and solution.

Well-being with Reiki is a concept of maintenance of health through emotional, mental and spiritual balance. You can achieve this by realizing that all ill health comes from a negative state of mind or thought and emotions (regardless of how subconscious or un-obvious this may seem). By learning to get in touch with your emotions, learning how to process and release them and by learning how to reprogram your mental thoughts and strategies you stay in a state of well-being and thus become truly self empowered.
