Reiki Symbols (Part 1)
With so many questions surrounding the Reiki Symbols, I felt it would be a good time to write a brief article about them and their purpose or use.
Like many Reiki practitioners, years ago I received teachings about the Reiki symbols during my level two Reiki class. I have read books and I have researched the symbols more online. But it wasn’t until I studied more about Reiki and Energy with well respected International Master Teachers that I realized a perspective not taught by Western practitioners concerning the Reiki symbols.
It is upon realizing that one of the symbols was written in Japanese characters that I decided to investigate their origins and find out the more about them. Well, of course, as the universe would have it, I met a Japanese woman on a flight to NYC in 2008; we had a five hour conversation surrounding this subject along with my many Energy Healing Teachings from International Teachers, I explored all that I have been taught and would like to share this with you. So let’s start here…
The Reiki system was born in Japan by Dr. Usui. Certainly, Dr. Usui referred to older things to put his methodology together. The hands-on method had already been used by Hindus, Jesus Christ, Aborigines and others. The energy involved, the Ki, was and still is the root of the entire body of Chinese medicine, where it is known as chi. He himself was a Tendai Buddhist and the symbolic concepts he introduced as healing tools were sacred Buddhist notions.
Now, let’s have a general discussion on the use of symbols in Reiki, things to know about symbols…
A lot of controversy is made of the Reiki symbols. Everyone wants to learn them; some would say they are so exotic and exciting or secret and sacred to use. Some may say they add a little spice to the mix? That is all very well, but let’s get some insights here and looks at a different perception as well.
Symbols are merely a kind of tool or a trigger as some may say. They do not carry power in themselves. Some people believe that a much-used symbol is very powerful because using it is like tapping into a reservoir of all the power invested in them. I’m not saying this isn’t true, but even if it is, it hardly applies to the case we are interested in. Reiki is too new and it seems no two practitioners, at least in the West, teach them exactly the same way. It is merely your intentions surrounding the symbols you call on and your intentions when and how to use them.
So, then, if the symbols are nothing more than tools or triggers to bring forward your intentions, the energy, then they are useful because they help train the mind in such a way as to instantly trigger a certain function in a reflex, and therefore unconscious (or subconscious?) way. This way, instead of having to focus on doing this or that, the tracing or calling of the symbol you are attune to can get it going instantly while you can concentrate on something else. On the other hand, it has been said, this kind of trigger does not have to be a symbol. It can be a sound, a gesture, a formula, an image, etc.
Dr. Usui, in the tradition of sacred writing characteristic to his Asia origins, chose calligraphies-symbols, doesn’t mean you have to slavishly use them.. If you choose not to use them, you are not practicing Reiki since they are an integral part of it.
Naturally, if you don’t use them, you’re not practicing Reiki since they are an integral part of it. I practice Reiki daily; I do call upon the symbols and find it to be a huge part of my personal spiritual practice. I have found the guidance and intention set with each symbol has never failed me, and that is personally speaking. Every one has their experience.
Tracing them accurately is your least worry, your intentions attached to the meaning, understanding and use of them is where the importance lies. Strictly speaking, if you are just going to learn how to trace them then they have as much to do with Reiki as a dollar-store dream catcher has to do with Indians. The value of a symbol resides in its efficiency as a trigger. Whether you use them, the originals, symbols you further modify yourself, symbols you make up or symbols you bring in from other traditions, you will not lose efficiency. If you forget how to draw a symbol in the middle of a working, you can still move forward on intent, which is all you actually need anyway. Energy flows where your intent is. Everything else is just there to help until the day you can control your energy as naturally as you can move an arm.
First, learn the symbols, and practice with your intent. My personal experience with each symbol varies, and of course it would, my intent with each one is directed from all I have learned and respect with each one and in the energy I am calling upon.
Many practitioners, traditional and modern, feel the symbols must not be disclosed to the un-initiated/not attuned. While I agree they should not be disrespected and used frivolously, which would indeed weaken them, I am against pointless secrecy (knowing the symbols cannot replace a true initiation as intended by Usui), so no, I have no qualms publishing my study and experience of them.
My next article will disclose more information surrounding the Reiki Symbols: Tracing them? Their order? Single symbol and/or sets? Traditional Reiki Symbols and much more… Namaste’

Kundalini Awakening
Kundalini energy is the energy in you that sits at the base of your spine, in the root chakra.
It awakens when you start meditating, visualizing, practice yoga, Reiki or doing other spiritual activities.
The Question brought forward by a recent Student:
What is Kundalini Energy? Do we all have an Awakening?
I will give you a bit of information surrounding this Energy and it’s awakening. It would take a book to bring forward all the information and understanding of the Kundalini Energy…. So let’s start with some basic knowledge here….
It is important to understand this kind of energy for everyone who meditates, Reiki or other spiritual practices. You may start experiencing something unusual energetically; and may not know what to call your experience. Here is a little information to help you process this journey.
Kundalini is an energy that exists in everyone’s body, usually in a dormant state. This means that most people never feel it and never know it is there. But in a very few people, perhaps one in one thousand, this energy becomes aroused, activated. This can be a happy event or it can be scary and disruptive, depending on whether you aroused your Kundalini
on purpose or by accident.
Kundalini energy awakening is a natural process that helps you become more conscious. When activated, it starts going up your chakras till it reaches the crown chakra and you may become enlightened (that happens over time, of course).
Chakras are energy centers in the human subtle body energy system that are an integral part the individual processing and absorption of universal energies, including Kundalini energy. Through the practice of Meditation and Reiki, Kundalini Energy rises through the chakra system of the human body, cleansing stagnant energies and allowing for spiritual growth, self-realization and enlightenment. Meditation and Reiki will promote and open the flow of this energy.
When Kundalini energy rises through each Chakra, it cleanses the stagnant energy in that center and this allows much more life force energy to flow through the human chakra system. According to Anna Voigt in The Chakra Workbook, “although the term Kundalini… comes from the Tantra Yoga traditions, a phenomenon akin to the Kundalini experience is recognized in all of the shamanic traditions and mystical paths, in nearly all of the worlds’ major religions, and in genuine occult traditions. All of these traditions recognize the significance of Kundalini as a key to “divinizing” or “spiritualizing” a human being. From the perspective of an individual spiritual seeker, it is a path to enlightenment, liberation, or Self-realization.” When Kundalini rises through the Chakra system is facilitates a process of cleansing and awakening to higher consciousness in that center.
Chakra Cleansing
Throughout our daily lives and years of socialization we accumulate and hold onto low vibrational emotions, though patterns, behaviors, memories and programming. It is in the chakra system that we hold onto and experience these traumas, negative experiences and limiting agreements (thoughts & beliefs) that we make with ourselves about our self and the world. These low vibrational energetic patterns stay stored in our body’s energy system unless we actively cleanse them through energy work, meditation, Reiki or other spiritual practices, or until Kundalini rises spontaneously in an individual, speeding up the evolutionary process of your spiritual growth.
Low vibration means that the frequency of the emotion, thought, or memory is denser than the high vibration of light, which is pure life source. Everything is seen as energy, then we all have the potential to be a high vibrational being, a clear channel for universal love and light to flow through us, but these low vibrations such as fear, anger, resentment, guilt and judgment, among others, block your full potential.
Kundalini is a dormant energy within most people…In Hindu mythology; Kundalini is a serpent goddess who lies asleep at the base of the spine, coiled three and a half times around the first chakra. Her name is Kundalini Shakti, and she represents the unfolding of the divine Shakti energy, the energizing potential of life itself, a living goddess who enlivens all things.
So with that knowledge, you can see under certain circumstances, the Kundalini energy awakens and begins to rise through the body, piercing and opening the chakras as she moves in her undulating, snake-like fashion. As Kundalini releases stored and blocked energies, her movement can be quite intense, sometimes emotional, and can lead to physical discomforts. This is temporary, but more so- the process of the awakening. I see it as a cleansing.
As I have mentioned, circumstances that stimulate Kundalini awakening are many and varied, but are usually triggered by such things as extended periods of meditation, Reiki, fasting, stress, trauma, psychedelic drugs, or near death experiences.
Kundalini is a condensed, primal force, similar to the potential energy found in water. When released, it creates a vertical connection between the chakras by opening the subtle channels known as nadi, most specifically, the central channel that moves up the spine called sushumna. If you put water through a small hose at very high pressure, the end of the hose will undulate or surge-like a snake. Similarly, the intense energy of Kundalini undulates in the body as it rises through the chakras.
Kundalini can also be seen as a result of the chakras connecting to each other. Theoretically, as the chakras enlarge, the spinning of one can enhance the spinning of the one above or below it.
Kundalini is basically a healing force, but as I has I’ve said, effects can sometimes be emotional or unpleasant- “It is an Awakening”. Such effects may last for minutes, days or a period of time, it depends on you and how you choose to process what is before you. In truth, it is a gift.
If you find yourself processing some uncomfortable Kundalini awakening symptoms, be kind to yourself, “Breathe” …. Here are a few suggestions;
1) Purify the body. Abstain from recreational drugs, tobacco, alcohol, and caffeine, prescription drugs. Avoid food additives, high sugars, or greasy foods. Eat well, especially protein which is generally grounding. Get massage and vigorous exercise.
2) Reduce stress. If you are in for a major spiritual transformation, make time for the necessary changes in your life. You may need to devote more time to your spirituality or health.
3) Find Support. Share with others who have knowledge of this experience.
4) Educate yourself. Read about Kundalini, Kundalini awakening, Reiki and learn about Chakras.
5) Treat underlying psychological issues. As Kundalini brings up unresolved issues, this is the best time to deal with them. It will make the process smoother.
6) Examine your spiritual practices. If you have not been practicing meditation, yoga, Reiki or some spiritual practice, it may be time to begin. You might need to stop meditating for a while if it increases unpleasant Kundalini awakening symptoms. See what increases or decreases the unpleasant effects.
7) Practice grounding. Kundalini is most difficult when the energy is moving upward without enough energy moving downward to balance. Investigate the possibility of the first chakra issues that need to be resolved in order to give a firmer base. Practice grounding exercise daily.
And now I would like to wish you all a very prosperous New Year 2010… Make your list of affirmations and say them everyday. Open your mind to “Change”, and be aware of your thoughts, your behaviors, and your actions and allow the process… with every change in life whether it feels positive or negative, light or heavy, gain or loss, every soft lesson, every heavy lesson…. Change is going to happen in life, with every change there is a gift…. Always!

Money Relationships
Money and the Holidays… oh boy! …. That word…“Recession”…. It seems to be spoken a lot these days. We have all felt the shift and change in our economy at some level, creating fear and becoming the main topic of most conversations I hear lately. I think maybe the holidays have a way of setting that up for us?
But the issue is ‘how you “feel” surrounding this issue’?
In fact Money Energy IS Spiritual Energy; it is a measure of goodwill that we exchange with one another for the use of products and services that might not otherwise be available for us.
Money Energy can be as much a source of Love and Good as any other energy that we may choose to focus our intentions on. Money Energy in and of itself is not evil, bad or wrong. How and when you choose to use Money determines what impact it will have on your life and the world around you. If you make what another sees as being a poor or wrong decision, then Money Energy gets the blame for your actions. Yet the Money did not make the choice.
In truth, Money Energy is given to us from Spirit/Universe/Source because our world has decided that Money Energy (in one form or another) is an appropriate unit of exchange. It is given in exchange for something that has meaning and value for us. It is one way that Spirit has of flowing its love and support to all of us. There is a ready supply for everyone, yet one of the beliefs that hold many people in a state of poverty is the belief that money is not spiritual, that it is bad, wrong, hard to come by, all of this is untrue! It may feel true to you right now because it is what you have been led to believe and yet look around you.
Your “thoughts” and “feelings” surrounding money is the issue really….. Years ago I started to Reiki money, my thought process shifted in the way I felt about it, I no longer believe that what was good for my parents as they settled for, is not what I wanted to believe… Change your thoughts, Change your life.
“What We Pay Attention To Expands”
The Secret….Law of Attraction.
Money touches almost every aspect of living: work, leisure time, creative activities, home, family, and spiritual pursuits. Everything you do and dream of is affected by your relationship with this powerful form of energy. Your thoughts surrounding money is the issue….. Shift your perception here….. It is your mind and attitude that creates your income or lack of….
Here is an interesting discussion at a recent Reiki Circle….
What and How your think of Money dictates the outcome….
Do you charge for Reiki Sessions? The one thing I don’t understand is why “Reiki Healing/Practitioners” are singled out when it comes to whether or not people should be charged. Do people assume that “Reiki Masters/Practitioners” have no mortgage to pay, no food to buy etc.?
Here again, Money is Energy too!!!

The ‘Universal Truth’ in this discussion is nothing more then “Exchange of Energy”. Namely that money is symbolic of Energy and that there’s something parallel to the “You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours”. The client comes along wanting a Reiki Session or healing at some level. The exchange of healing energy for money energy is then nothing more than an exchange of favors or energy.
Money is a force. It is a concentrated symbol of energy and power in life. Like all forces in the universe, money obeys certain universal laws or principles. By understanding those laws and acting appropriately, you gain a great power over money, enabling wealth and prosperity to come your way.
Like any force, money needs to move freely in order to sustain itself. Holding back on paying, or otherwise hoarding money, prevents the free flow of energy, and thus the free flow of money.
If you give up such attitudes and let money circulate, energy will flow, and life will reward you with good fortune, including the constant flow of money in your direction. This is proof of the subtle principle of “inner-outer correspondence”; i.e. life reflects on the outside your psychological condition inside within yourself. If you make your feelings or attitudes more positive, such as overcoming an unwillingness to pay a bill or the hoarding of money, life on the outside will respond positively to you.
In these years change, lets learn how freeing it can be to live simply and to appreciate the Divine rather than material bounty. Even when financial circumstances are challenging, keep your mind focused on the greatest blessing of all, that each and every one of us are continually in the loving care of God, The Universal Love. Keep inside your heart the attitude of thankfulness to your higher self, while putting forth every effort to transform obstacles into stepping-stones for accomplishment and progress.
So with that said; Enjoy the Holidays, Reiki, love and light…. Move forward with new perception surrounding money… allow it to flow just as you do with the Reiki Energy.
Happy Holidays

Reiki for Christians…
As the popularity of Reiki grows, many Christians are becoming interested in this healing art and have begun to practice it. They have found that Reiki is a useful technique that helps them express compassion toward others and relieve suffering at the same time that it creates a closer connection for them to God. Because Reiki is a laying on hands healing technique similar to what Jesus practiced, it is especially appealing.
The purpose of this article is to answer questions Christians have about Reiki and to provide a place for Christians who practice Reiki to share their ideas and experiences.
This article was prepared & written by several Christian students who Practice Reiki and it is an honor to share it with
The Secret of Reiki Community…
Should Christians Practice Reiki?
By Marcia Backos
Three recent conversations have convinced me that many Christians are drawn to Reiki but are unsure that Reiki should become part of their lives. One of my students spent several months deciding whether to enter a Reiki workshop. I was not aware of the how intense her struggles had been until she observed in class, “If my parents knew I am here, they would cheerfully burn me at the stake.” She was respectful of her parents’ version of Christianity, but she was totally convinced that she was called by God to become a healer. Her parents’ denomination offered no healer training. She had finally revealed her secret and decided that she must accept God’s calling and the spiritual gift of healing and believes that Reiki offers the way.
During another conversation with one of the pastors of my church, I asked his opinion of Reiki. He casually observed that he had heard about a Reiki Master who had somehow abused his students, so he didn’t think much of the practice. I mentioned the tragic experiences in the Catholic Church with priests sexually abusing children which had not caused people to change their opinion of Christianity nor to stop going to church. Apparently he rethought his opinion. Later the same day, he asked me to speak to a man recently diagnosed with brain cancers about arranging some Reiki treatments.
As the practice of Reiki has spread round the world in a 30-year period and is rapidly entering public awareness; Christians have approached its use in a variety of ways. More and more Christians view Reiki as a practice that provides an opportunity to follow more closely the teachings and examples of Jesus healing the sick. Others are concerned that Reiki has an Eastern origin and are searching for more information and experiences before deciding how to respond. Thoughtful, committed Christians seek accurate information and pray for guidance as part of deciding whether to adopt the practice of Reiki into their lives.
Each new idea or change in our world challenges us to adjust to the new knowledge and experience. Sometimes new knowledge has bearing on our religious values and beliefs. Those who take their spiritual lives seriously will often take time to gather information on the new subject, think about it and pray for guidance. After this process, a decision can be made about if or how those new thoughts or practices might be incorporated into their daily lives. This is a spiritually mature way to deal with things of this nature. During the time of research, people will benefit by making sure they make use of information that is accurate and gives an honest and fair description of the subject they are exploring. By reading, seeking those who have given or experienced Reiki, and praying for insight and guidance, Christians can make decisions about how Reiki might play a role in their lives. It’s important to keep in mind that while many Christians have found Reiki to be a spiritually fulfilling practice, it is not necessarily for everyone.
Christian churches have a long tradition of adopting practices that enhance the spiritual life of its members based on examples of Jesus’ actions described in the Bible. Some churches use music and liturgy; others use silence and inspired prayer; some worship on Saturday (7th Day Adventists) and others on Sunday; some use dance and others sit throughout much of the service; some baptize by emersion and others by sprinkling water on the head; some honor saints and seek their help while others seek angelic experiences. In Christian worship, the cross is used as a focus of worship complemented by candles, music, prayer beads, bells, incense, and other ritual items. These many and varied practices indicate the range of methods that different Christian groups incorporate to follow the teachings of the Bible and to come closer to God. While they are different, they all fall within the definition of Christianity.
As Christians seek ways to increase and strengthen their spiritual moments, many have adopted practices to develop the “Gifts of the Spirit.” In I Corinthians 12:4-12, Paul speaks of the gifts to including speaking wisdom and knowledge and the power to heal. Also Paul describes people within the church having roles as apostles, prophets, teachers, those who perform miracles, those who heal, those who direct others and those who speak in strange tongues (I Corinthians 12:28-31).
Because one of the spiritual gifts is healing, devoted Christians who take direction from the above scripture have looked into the laying on of hands and more recently, the practice of Reiki. In addition, many Christian seekers have found John 14:12 an important source of guidance as well as reassurance that becoming healers it is not only possible, but also something we as Christians should develop if we feel spiritually guided to do so: “I am telling you the truth: whoever believes in me will do what I do-yes, he will do even greater things because I am going to the Father” (TEV)
Within that quotation is both instruction and challenge. As Christians search for ways to follow more fully Jesus’ teachings and examples in order to draw closer to God, it is important to be aware of the examples Jesus set for us. Many of these focused on healing others (Matt: 14:14, Mark 3:10, Luke 4:38-39). And much of his healing was done by lying on hands.
Here are a few examples: In Matthew 8:14-15, Jesus uses touch to heal Peter’s mother-in-law of a fever. In Mark 1:40-42 Jesus uses his hands to heal a man with leprosy. This is also mentioned in Luke 5:12-13. Matthew 20:29-34 describes how Jesus healed two blind men by touching their eyes and in Mark 8:22-25 Jesus uses his hands to heal another blind man. In Mark 7:32 35 he uses touch to heal a man who is deaf and can’t speak. In Luke 7:12-15, Jesus raises a dead man by touching his coffin and in Luke 8:49-55 Jesus uses touch to return a dead girl to life.
Scripture clearly indicates that healing is something appropriate for Christians to be involved with. Christians who have a solid foundation in their faith know that God will always protect and guide them. Those Christians who practice Reiki do so within the guidance and protection of God secure in the belief that they have been guided to follow Jesus’ example to be a healer.
Have you been called on to practice the gift of spiritual healing? If the answer is yes, is Reiki right for you? The best way for you to decide if you should take up the practice of Reiki is through a careful investigation and gaining a clear understanding of “What Reiki is”.
The Secret Of Reiki Home Study Package is a complete, affordable, yet simple to understand, step by step guide to learn Reiki and become a Reiki Master. It is often used by International Reiki Teachers as a guide for their students as well.

Reiki and Aura Cleansing
During the past few Reiki Circles, the questions surrounding the energy in your aura has been the topic…. so here is a bit of information to guide you in understanding Reiki and your Aura…
The aura is a subtle energy field that surrounds all matter, including people, animals, trees, plants, rocks and water. Although your spiritual body is invisible to most people it is as real as the physical body. The body’s aura is much like the atmosphere of the earth, growing progressively thinner the further out it goes. It is alive, sensitive and easily affected by the slightest shifts in attitude, mode of thinking, feelings and eating habits.
A person who is positive and healthy will have a strong bright vibrant energy field that expands outwards from the body. In a person that is negative or sick the aura will be weak and have a dull energy field contracting inwards towards the body.
Many people who can see the aura will describe it as egg shaped, vibrational, and colorful; a glow-like vibration at each chakra. The colors of the aura change constantly in response to alterations in thoughts, feelings and actions. Illness and dis-ease can be detected in the aura field long before it manifests in the physical body. The reason is that at the onset of trauma or an influx of negativity the aura field is the first area to be affected. For healing to be effective it needs to extend to the subtle energy field.
Cleansing the aura is much like brushing down a large animal such as a horse. First, be sure to ground yourself and focus your mind with your intentions on the results you hope to achieve. Then imagine with your intention that attached to the palms of your hands are large brushes capable of clearing the aura of negativity. As thou you are brushing the knots or loose hair out of the coat of a horse.
If you want to conduct general aura cleansing, you need to find a person to practice on, hold your hands close together palms outwards and facing the person that is helping you, move your open palmed-hands downward from the head to the feet, keeping them about 6ins (15cm) away from the body. After sweeping the brush like strokes down the body and over the tops of the feet, allow the feet to touch the floor to ground out any negative energy. By moving clockwise- repeat the movement down the right side of the body and proceed until you have completed all four sides of the body; right, back, left and front sides.
In releasing, or sweeping the energy field (aura), you then dispose of the negative energy (with intention and your imagination) whisking the negative energy into a pale of violet flames is one way of doing this.
Sealing the Aura after a healing session. Be sure to protect the aura from negativity by sealing it; once again begin with focused intention. Then imagine that your hands have special aura-sealing abilities, or are able to emit a protective sleeve, sweep your hands slowly from the head of the person to the feet, without touching the body. Move clockwise as before until you have sealed all four sides of the aura field.
I recently received this email from a member of The Secret of Reiki and would love to share it with you…. Namaste’ my friends…. Leave your comments and share your experiences….
Reiki for claustrophobia- Experience Shared by Ana Santos….
I’m claustrophobic. If I can, I avoid all closed spaces. This leads me to climb many stairs to avoid lift or elevators. Even in airplanes I’ve experienced claustrophobia but then I have practiced Reiki with effective outcomes.
But my last experience with Reiki for claustrophobia was different.
Needing to establish a diagnosis of a possible brain aneurysm I must have been submitted to MRI with angiography. Many people talked of how claustrophobic this exam is and I know that in some cases, an anesthetist puts the person to sleep.
Thus, when I entered the health center to the MRI I was quite afraid, not only of what it would reveal in my brain but of the process of being “closed inside machine”.
I must explain now that I am Usui Reiki Master and also, Karuna Ki Master, Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Masters and Colors of Angels Masters. This practice with Angels and Archangels uses Angels and Chakra colors, so it makes Reiki and Angelology a wonderful experience with potential synergy.
So, when the hour came in which I laid down in MRI machine, technician puts an artifact that would not allow me to move my head, something as earphones and… something as an helm or fencing mask. Well, there was something TOO close to face and eyes of someone who is claustrophobic. She put me a call bell in my left hand in case I need to call and made me slide INSIDE the MRI machine. I found myself with its ceiling not more than 4 inches from my nose. I was supposed to be there for 30 minutes and what immediately came to my mind was “I won’t do this. I can’t stay here closed for so long!”. But we all (me, family, doctors) need to know if a life threatening issue was inside my brain and there were no other way of knowing it. I decided to perform Reiki on myself. Well, it must be something different because I could not move hands to my head or face – not even to relief my itchy nose. I decided Reiki with Archangels. If I would perform in the seven main chakras plus more three other points, 3 minutes in each, it would make 30 minutes – those that examination would last.
I started to visualize every chakra, its color and vibration, with each Archangel – we work with seven – beginning with Crown. Between each Chakra I smoothed aura with Raphael Archangel who is health and healing Archangel, also called “Doctor of God”. Even thought the noise that MRI implies, I was able to develop these Reiki and Archangels exercises and stay very calm. I closed my eyes so I wouldn’t notice how close and tiny the space was and concentrated myself in my Chakras, Aura and Healing.
I had no perception of time passing by and when MRI technician pull out the table where I was lying I asked “Is it done already?” She smiled and asked “Do you want to go on there?” To tell the truth, I was so in peace, feeling good that it was no sacrifice at all. I also felt that there was nothing danger in my brain.
And so it was. There were no aneurysm, nor other brain lesion, and I could stand 30 minutes that may have been very difficult or even impossible without anesthesia to someone who is so claustrophobic as I am.
Reiki and Archangels are wonderful. Together they are just amazing and perform miracles. Thanks God! Ana Santos

Understanding Reiki Energy…
It has been a great privilege to introduce Reiki to so many new students and have them join our Reiki Circles. The experiences, comments and questions that have been brought forward have enlightened me to write about understanding Reiki Energy….
Everything is energy, therefore everything has a frequency. Imbalances are energetic vibrations that are not in harmony with our natural state of well being. Each imbalance has a frequency that can be brought into balance and neutralized by applying a balancing energy. Reiki is a treatment and process performed to your subtle-energy bodies, identifying energetic imbalances and delivering balancing frequencies.
It is important to understand that Reiki does not heal you.
Only ‘YOU’ can heal you.
Neither the Reiki Practitioner nor the Reiki Teacher will diagnose, treat, cure or prevent dis-ease. Reiki is a tool, a way of life that you incorporate in your life to remove energy imbalances promoting self-healing. Every Reiki participant is unique and every participant’s experience is personal, different and unique.
I personally host the Reiki Circles with the sole mission of teaching, experiencing and delivering Reiki
to all the participants. I believe Reiki is a spiritual or self-realization experienced differently by each participant depending on their needs at every level, mind, body, spirit… because it is impossible to separate healing and spirituality.
Reiki is guided by the Higher Intelligence that sustains and balances all life on this planet. It is an intelligent energy of love and wholeness. It understands the cause of all situations and what healing is necessary. It is no secret the Reiki energy has wisdom of its own, healing and balancing all aspects of your mind, body, emotions and spirit.
It is a gentle non-invasive method of hands on-healing that does provide balance to the physical, emotional, spiritual and mental issues in your life. In practicing Reiki healing you also develop personal and spiritual growth.
It is very easy to learn, simple to use and can benefit everyone. It has nothing to do with Religion and can be practiced by all. You can participate and practice Reiki on yourself, family, friends, pets and situations. You do not have to be ill or be in the midst of any dis-ease, dis-comfort or dis-order to experience the benefits of Reiki.

When you use Reiki healing energy daily, it can distinctly reduce the tendency toward illness; it will promote and support the body’s natural healing ability to keep healthy. Reiki can also be a way of promoting the growth of one’s spiritual path. Each one of us walks our own path but certain spiritual practices can increase deeper levels of being…your inner ‘Self-realization’.
- Increases inner peace, mental clarity, personal growth, & emotional stability
- Promotes calmness, loosens up blocked energy
- Relaxes the body and significantly reduces stress, tension, anxiety, surgery discomfort & depression taxation
- Provides relief from acute or chronic pain, anxiety, depression, insomnia, lack of confidence, addiction and fear-based illnesses
- Complements medical treatment
- Increases vitality & energy levels
- Boosts and strengthens the immune system
Reiki healing usually brings about slow, gradual improvements over a period of days and weeks. With conditions that have been present a long time, it may take months until maximum benefits are achieved. While occasional healing “miraculous” cures have been reported, these are relatively rare.
It is up to you to cast off old habits and patterns in your life and to accept healing and change. It is very important for everyone to “think positively”.
Sometimes people have unreasonable expectations of Reiki healing. It does not often bring an instant cure of any condition. Reiki works with you to restore energetic balance and repair things like blockages and unbalance in the energy field which create disease and unhappiness. This can take time, especially if the illness, dis-ease or dis-function has been in the body for awhile. It is best when having a treatment to have no expectations except to be open to having the treatment, willing to learn and “participate” in positive thinking promoting healing.
It is important to understand, that “healing”
Is not always the same as “curing”
Once again your mindset (positive) makes a considerable difference in the outcome of what may happen. Illness or dis-ease is usually a message from your body, take notice; something is not right in your life.
- Are you going in the right direction?
- Do you need to learn something?
- Forgive someone?
- Bring more joy into your life?
- Make a healthy life change?
- Love yourself more?
Ultimately if you want healing to be permanent you must take responsibility for healing the cause. Reiki healing will promote and help with this too by allowing you to approach the changes in a calm, relaxed manner; allows you to let go of negative thoughts and attitudes, with the shifting of your thoughts, you shift your energy as well. Reiki can bring about greater self-awareness and your capacity to love yourself and others and can connect you with the Divine. Reiki will transform your life - at every level of your life.
I am committed to passing along the energy to as many people as I can. The light will grow in each person and around the world as we spread this gift from person to person, raising and healing the planet.
I created and wrote The Secret Of Reiki Home Study Package to teach and provide you with all the tools you need to incorporate Reiki in your life, become a Reiki Master or Reiki Teacher. It has been an honor to offer and promote healing to anyone and everyone who is willing to learn and experience the Reiki Healing Journey without having to spend hundreds and in some cases thousands of dollars to learn and understand this Healing Art…. I share my passion with you. Namaste’

Reiki Attunement
Can you be Self-Attuned or does a
Reiki Master Teacher Initiate or Attune you?

Has anyone ever asked you this question before?
Have you ever asked it yourself?
Chances are, on both counts, that you haven’t – and this is not at all surprising. Many Reiki Masters or Reiki Teachers haven’t given this much thought. It seems most just accept the history as ‘given’ by other Reiki Practitioners at every level. No matter which story of the origins of Reiki you have been taught or choose to believe in – you are asked to accept ‘that the ability to channel Reiki’ can only be passed on to you by an existing Reiki Master in person.
And, at least initially, this sounds plausible and quite acceptable…Until you look a little deeper…
Quick rundown on the origins of Reiki
There are presently two versions of how Reiki came into being, both of which have been circulating for quite some time.
The Western version goes something like this:
After years of searching through various religious and spiritual manuscripts in several countries for the ability to heal like Jesus, Usui (pronounced: you-soo-ee or Ooo-su-ee) was awakened in his third eye by a strong light – which came out of the darkness after a 21 day fasting meditation on Mount Kurama, giving him with the ability to heal.
The Eastern version goes like this…
After facing certain business failures; Usui went to Mount Kurama and experienced an awakening and understanding surrounding the ability to heal ones self at every level. During his days of meditating, with his experiences he founded the ‘Usui Reiki’; life force energy healing at every level. With a very brief history of the Reiki origins, it really doesn’t matter which version you find acceptable. Usui was on Mount Kurama alone.
Now, let’s look at this closer; do you believe that the only way to be attuned to the Reiki energy is to be initiated or attuned by an existing Reiki Master in person?
This is where we have to ask you, ‘Does this really make any sense’? It is no secret that Dr. Usui meditated and committed himself to the Reiki Energies.
Does it make any sense at all for you to accept that you can only be attuned to Reiki by someone else, when Reiki Teachers accepted the founder of Reiki- Dr. Usui – attuned himself to the energies and founded the Reiki practice.
In either version of the Reiki history does it mention anywhere that there was anyone else present to pass this energy on to him. Some will tell you that Usui was struck in the forehead by some kind of bright light which enlightened him to Reiki – well, I personally don’t think so, but even if that did happen- it’s still not another person is it?
So, the truth is –
Usui was totally alone when he attuned himself to Reiki!

Here is the Question: Do you have to be attuned by a Reiki Master?
You can be empowered with the Reiki Energy without an attunement from a physical person. Reiki is FREE and available to everyone who chooses to learn the discipline, initiate, respect, techniques and practice it. You pay for the tools and time from a Reiki Master to gain the knowledge, guidance and certification to practice.
Reiki Energy has been with us since the beginning of time, there is nothing new about it at all. There is no reason why you cannot be empowered the same way that the founder Usui was. Remember that Usui was a mortal man (the same as all of us) who was empowered during meditating; via; self-attuned. I only say this because I have also self-attuned after being attuned by a Master. I can honestly say that my self-attunement, commitment and sensitivity to the energies were very powerful, no doubt raised the vibrations for me. Those that I have guided through- The Secret of Reiki Home Study Course- ‘the self-attunement’- have said the same in sharing their personal experiences. You have a choice as to how you attune to the Reiki Energies; I have found great experiences in each attunement ritual I have participated in. Reiki is an intention, a commitment and personal relationship you develop through a process of knowledge, learning, attunement and practice. Some of my students, even several internationally; have requested a long distance attunement by me as well, along with their self-attunement; clearly it is a personal relationship with Reiki and a personal choice.

Reiki Self Treatment
Take a deep breath, fall is upon us and the new season rings in the chills and fresh air of fall… the energies of nature shift and change, we do too!
In response to the many emails surrounding a Reiki Self Treatment; I thought it would be best to post an article, an ‘all in one answer’!
Why would I want to learn how to do a Reiki Self-Treatment?
Although it is a wonderful experience to receive Reiki from someone else, a practitioner, Reiki Master or a Reiki Teacher, there are many reasons to consider learning to practice Reiki on yourself. The convenience of self-treatment is valued not only by people with health challenges, but also by those of us with busy schedules. Daily Reiki Self-Treatments provide an opportunity to restore balance, reduce stress, and reconnect with an experience of wholeness and wellness. Additionally, it has been my experience, moments of Reiki practiced throughout the day will bring you back to centering, relief from pain, anxiety, and stress as often as you feel the need.
Self healing is one of the numerous benefits of Reiki; it is an important treatment of Reiki where you can promote healing within yourself, spiritually, physically and mentally. Once you have the first Reiki attunement, you will develop your own routines which will further help you feel balanced promoting clarity throughout your day. You can practice these healing techniques anytime, at any place.
Examples of Reiki Self-Treatment
In the beginning of my Reiki Journey, I would practice a full body self-treatment every morning; you do not have to be a Reiki Master to do Reiki. You only need to be attuned to the Reiki Energies.
As my life and schedule became busier I found on some mornings my self treatments getting shorter and shorter. Over a course of time and practice I developed a few techniques that work for me beautifully that I will share with you. I continue to practice Reiki daily, not only on others, which is a form of self treatment in of itself.
A meditation and self-treatment in the morning to start my day off; I complete my morning meditation, whether it is 5 minutes or half hour…. I then follow it with a Reiki self treatment. Here is a quick self treatment when I only have a few minutes. Being that I am already in meditation, my space is safe and set. You set your sacred space as you choose. It could be as simple as your intention and a lit candle.
I call upon the intended symbols I want to invoke and take my deep breaths…. And with intention, I focus on every energy center (chakra) calling each of my chakras into the space of my hands/palms, I then call in ‘any and all things specific’ that I want included in this treatment (situations, aliments etc.) Breathing deep with each request, calling in each body part starting with my feet, legs, hips, back, arms, shoulders etc…(call in what you like) and with your intention and breathe; place your whole energy body in your hands/palms…. Cup your hands together in a prayer position (at heart center) and treat the energy in your hands, ‘your full energy’ body for 3 minutes (or more)…and remember to breathe deep, relax and know it is done… I set my ego aside and close with a prayer asking for continuous guidance; I am in grace and gratitude.
Once or twice a week I will do a traditional ‘long-form’ full body Reiki Treatment as described in The Secret Of Reiki Home Study Course.
Just remember, ALWAYS REMEMBER, whatever the Reiki Symbols or rituals in whatever the form of Reiki Treatment you are invoking or using…
…YOU are calling on the source of the power with your intentions.
So just like you would pick out your clothes for the day or your favorite foods, create and practice a Reiki daily ritual and see what you feel most comfortable with; the Reiki ritual which is most comfortable for you will work best for you.
Leave a comment or share your personal ideas and experiences, I look forward to hearing from you. Namaste’

Letting Go Creates Reiki’s Flow-
The summer coming to end and fall coming upon us, it is nice to spend some quality time at the beach. As I was sitting at the beach this past weekend, I watched and listen to the waves, listen to the birds singing, observed airplanes flying above, surfers in the water, chatter of families and children at play….
It was only moments into my state of meditation I notice a young mother with her two children reacting in fear, “don’t go near the water, you could drown, don’t sit in the sand, sit on your towel, be careful with your sand shovels, you will put your sister’s eye out”… and on it went!” As far as I could see this family outing was full of chaos and fear, I could feel the ‘static energy’ in the air.
Wow, I could only imagine that is exactly what the children’s mother heard all her life…. Fear based direction, impacting her and now mimicking her taught behaviors. Over a period of time the fear and behaviors would create static and blockage in her energy body which would likely manifest into dis-ease or aliments in her physical body; and as we have all been guilty of; passing this energy, attitude and behavior off to the children.
Ok, time to call in the healing, starting with knowledge, change and new thought patterns, after-all we only know what we know…. Right!
The energy body is an exact duplicate of the physical body, except it is made up of a much finer substance and vibration. This is the battery for your body that supplies the energy you need to live a long and healthy life. Your energy body is your life-force and breathes while living in the physical body. Without it, no physical existence is possible, and when your energy body is full of static or blockage it will manifest dis-ease or illnesses at a physical level.
Healing is limited only by the imagination. It is activated through your focused intention and manifests in one of the many dimensions in your mind. Reiki techniques employ the more subtle energies, shifting and releasing blocked energy; promoting healing of your whole being.
So how do these mimicked thoughts, words and behaviors cause blocked energy in your body and then possibly manifest into illness and dis-ease?
Well, let’s simplify this; it is no secret thought creates an action or re-action. Your actions or re-actions affect your energy body. Your energy body or life-force responds with a balanced flow of energy or with static and blockage…. Negative thoughts and behavior create blockage and positive thoughts and behavior create a balanced flow in your energy body.
So- as I sat in the sand, I grabbed hands full of sand, one in each hand. I held the sand in my left hand very tight…. Holding on so tight, the sand slowly slipped out of the cracks of my palm, slipping out like an hour glass by my pinky finger. In my right hand I held the sand with open palm, as I sat and observed the peaceful energy of it calmly sitting in place, no static and not loosing a single grain.
It came to mind, this is how the energy works in our bodies. All the stress of holding on to negative thoughts and behaviors cause the tightness, stress, loosing energy and creating blocked energy in our body, just like the sand being squeezed out of the palm of my left hand. Where in the right hand, no stress and chaos, allowing the sand to be present in the palm of my hand, just like positive thoughts allow the flow of energy in your body…. An interesting comparison I know, but holds true and keeps it simple!
As a Reiki Teacher, I first teach the understanding of ‘the core and process of energy’. It is then you learn about Reiki and how Reiki techniques alleviate stress, pain, illness and dis-ease in the mental, spiritual and physical bodies.
Reiki is free; and you can become a Reiki Master- it just requires the tools to learn, practice and your intention and commitment. The more aware you become of the ‘root cause’ of blocked energy in your body, creating illness, physical aliments and dis-ease, the better chance you promote healing starting at the root level- your thoughts, behaviors and re-actions affect your energy body; the more you learn to shift your thoughts, words, behaviors and actions, the more you promote healing in your life.
Release the resentments, disappointments, fear and chaos in your life, at least those you have control or choice to release. Be aware of how each situation, thought and action you take daily affects your whole being. Practice meditation in its many forms along with Reiki, even if just a few moments a day… Namaste’
