Pray, Meditate, Celebrate – Reiki Circles

Posted October 31st, 2008

Reiki Circles come in different forms, but they are all common in the fact that there are three or more people learning and participating in a Reiki treatment.  In my personal and professional life as a teacher and healer, I have developed a deep appreciation for the value of communities based on universal spiritual principals. When we pray, meditate, celebrate, and share healing in compassionate community, our bodies and spirits become renewed and enhanced, our networks expand and our relationships grow deeper.

For Reiki students that want to further their skills and intuition, come and work with other Reiki Masters and Practitioners, a Reiki circle is the perfect tool! It is also a good way to be introduced to Reiki, people can go to learn about Reiki and experience a Reiki treatment, which is very relaxing, healing and educational.  They will learn that Reiki energy has several basic effects: it brings about deep relaxation, destroys energy blockages, detoxifies the system, provides new vitality in the form of healing universal life energy, and increases the vibrational frequency of the body. You may also want to start your own Reiki business and this is a wonderful way to begin creating community.

Creating your Reiki Circle
Reiki Circles come in several forms.  It is up to you, the host,  how to guide your Reiki circle. You may have everyone sit in a circle, guide a meditate then  exchange Reiki by holding hands.

You may set up a Reiki bed (massage table) and after a guided meditation each person enjoys a 10 minute treatment by the other participates.  You, the host, may offer Reiki Attunements before the Reiki Circle begins to new practitioners.  You, the host, may have a special guest on occasion to teach or guide a meditation.   Be creative and enjoy sharing your time, love and Reiki energies.

(Example of a Reiki Circle)
Everyone sits in a circle, the host will guide a meditation for about 15-20 minutes.  The first half of the a guided meditation is beautifully  facilitated to place calm and peace in the heart of the circle. This is a energetic precursor to individual healing attunements to clear blockages, form clarity, increase empowerment,  release toxins that no longer serve you or just gently balance your body’s energy system.

The second half of the circle is sending Reiki energy to our family’s, friends, our projects, our dreams, our business, our aspirations as you put your thoughts, business cards, photographs, visions or situations in the circle. Those individuals attuned to Reiki will hold the energy for those not attuned

Depending on how many are participating will depend on the number of Reiki beds you will need.  With 5-6 people per Reiki bed we share Reiki for the next hour.  One person on the Reiki bed and the others surround the Reiki bed channeling Reiki to the recipient for 10 minutes. Everyone who wants, shares their experience, often teaching others about Reiki and intuition.

We close with a group prayer of thanks.  Sharing or (network) for the balance of the time allowed, serving a few goodies and water (get grounded) before driving home.

Promoting your Reiki Circle
Invitations, brochures or flyers are great ways to get the word out there.  Leaving flyers at the massage schools, spas and salons, community bulletin boards and with people you meet at your networking groups will quickly get the word out.

(Example of Flyer)

Costs to Host a Reiki Circle
Depending where you live, your certification might not be enough when it comes to legally offering professional services in “your area”.  Some U.S. states require a license to practice natural health therapies.  Because Reiki is a spiritual healing art you may be required to become certified as an ordained minister.  Making phone calls to the local chamber of commerce or city hall is a good way to begin your fact-finding mission.

You may start out hosting a Reiki Circle from your home, which will cut costs. As the group of participates grows you may need to re-locate to a larger room.  Churches, senior centers, community halls and schools rent rooms for very fair prices and sometimes will donate a room.  At that level of growth you will want to ask other practitioners to bring their Reiki beds if you are doing this style Reiki Circle.  Clearly, you will know the space you need to continue your success.

You may choose to provide water and snacks for networking time after the Reiki Circle, remember to “include” these costs in your budget and charge a door fee or recommended donation accordingly.  Create the experience!

Costs to Participate in a Reiki Circle
As I have mentioned, the cost of attending a Reiki Circle depends on the host, the style and length of time of the circle, the space or room provide and the tuition to the host or Reiki Master creating the Circle and teaching.  Charging a fee or freely giving a donation determines the depth of your commitment to the Circle and your personal journey.
