Reiki and Intuition… Combine Energy and Intuition! Experience ongoing support!

Posted August 3rd, 2010

NAMASTE’ and WELCOME to all our new friends…

For years I have practiced and taught Reiki, Meditation, the Chakras and Aura, Thoughts and Energy, Intuition and so much more.  I offer you many articles and insight on your path to healing at every level.

Click on ‘all articles’ and enjoy a wealth of information….

Enjoy Your Journey!

Reiki is a holistic energy healing technique which helps promote and assist mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health and healing. It’s used by and for people of every belief and religion, in private practice and in hospital settings. Doctors, Nurses, and Alternative Healers use Reiki to help their patients, their families and themselves.

What is a Session Like?
For your session you remain fully clothed and sit in a chair or lie comfortably on a massage table and listen to relaxing music. With the information you share and with my own scan of your body and aura (the energy field around every living thing) I will assess what sort of treatment to do.  As I am an intuitive/psychic, I work a bit differently than a traditional Reiki Master. I will listen to your body, receive messages from guides, and in this way provide a very deep experience, getting to the origin of your physical/emotional issue.

Reiki has specific hand positions which help direct the healing to the parts of the physical body or auric body which need healing.

You and I work together to heal what needs healing. I use Reiki, Intuition, Chakra Energy and other systems when I am engaged in healing.  As I am an intuitive, I will look at, feel for, and listen to the pain or discomfort, so that I can better understand the origin of it and start the healing.

In addition, I am a Psychic Medium as well, any messages I may receive and/or channel I will deliver to you, but always with your permission first.

Many clients decide to learn Reiki so they can treat themselves. In fact, it is a major goal of most of the Reiki Masters or Reiki Teachers to pass on the knowledge and guide you in opening up your intuitive abilities.

How Have My Clients Benefited from Reiki?

Reiki helps me listen to your body! Your body is not just physical. Your body is a powerful system of healing energy. As a healer I work with the messages your body sends physically, emotionally and intuitively.

During a recent Reiki Circle, I was listening/feeling vibrations of a head injury/pain or frequent headaches, I was given very specific message, when I related that message to the person, she confirmed that it was a message that had deep emotional life meaning to her; it represented a way of thinking that she could no longer tolerate and recognized that her thoughts had manifest a physical headache. She had changed her life path and behaviors in order to let go of that way of thinking. Negative thinking patterns manifest in your body creating dis-ease or simply make you sick. Science now supports this proposition.

Each session is as individual as each client.  As a Reiki Practitioner/Master, you too will find that your intuition will become more sensitive.

All my life I have know of my intuitive insights, but it was in learning Reiki that I have a better understanding and I am able to utilize my psychic abilities to help myself and others in healing at many levels in life.

What does Reiki Feel Like?
Clients report many sensations such as feeling great warmth, soothing energy, release of pain, release of pressure, Goosebumps, lightness or heaviness, positive, peaceful, happy emotions and general feelings of wellbeing. Reiki, it does your body and spirit good!

Your body has a divine blueprint of what it would be like to be completely healthy and happy. Reiki reminds and eases your body into that blueprint. Reiki can work on all parts of the body from organs and nerves to brain cells.

The Miraculous Medicine of all Dis-eases

Intuition has become synonymous
With the term Psychic

There are many forms of intuition and each psychic or intuitive will receive information in their own unique manner. I will hear, see and feel things outside of what we define as our three dimensional physical world. It is a challenge to put into words exactly what I experience. More important than how I receive information psychically is my intent. My sole intention in engaging in my psychic work is to help others create happy healthy lives, and to inspire others to engage in the use of their own intuition.

Reiki helps to create awareness on spiritual, mental and physical levels.

Reiki will not make you instantly Psychic, what it will do for you though is open up your 3rd eye chakra more and help you harness your own natural psychic abilities.

Everyone has psychic abilities; some are just more in
tune with it then others; we are all here to do the work we are called to do. We are all different, yet we are all ‘one’.

Being attuned to Reiki will help you get more in tune with your intuitive abilities.

Practical Definitions and Examples from my Practice

Clairvoyance, Clairsentenience, Clairaudience, Empathic and Channeling

Clairvoyance- Clair meaning clear and voyant, meaning seeing; People experience clairvoyance in different ways.  Perhaps you feel you “know” what is going to happen, or you “understand” a situation before it occurs, that is a clairvoyant experience.  Clairvoyants can receive information in visual terms, but we may also receive information as auditory, emotional and kinesthetic.

Clairsentience- Clair, meaning clear, and sentient, means feeling.

A clairsentient feels a client’s emotions, understands clearly what a person is feeling, has felt, or may feel in the future. I am able to feel the emotions of the clients and of people close to them.

Clairaudience is the ability to hear (auditory) information in word form. Channeling is a clairaudient activity; I will receive messages or information. Many healers, ‘me included’, can listen to a body and get messages from trouble spots. I have listened to tumors, to energy blocks, to tense muscles, just to areas of the body and these messages anent to find sometimes a cause for the problem, always a pathway of recovery and healing, certainly of awareness. I listen to my own guides, my “higher Self” and the guides and higher selves of others.  I can’t imagine life without this sort of communication; it grounds me and creates wholeness in my life.

Channeling is another word we toss around. Empathic is feeling the emotions of others. My very gifted and talented friend and I were having a conversation about channeling.  I believe we came up with the best way to define it.

Channeling is a word we use when we ‘feel’ and ‘hear’ another voice, other than ALL the regular internal voices that belong to our psyche, our ego, our id, our internal critic. There are many of these voices. The voice that brings comfort, support, even rescue, more likely is your higher self. The part of you that is full of knowledge beyond what you have read or studied or even imagined. It is still you! It is your higher part, your God self, your double! You can also channel your guides. You can channel other energies and entities outside of yourself but your best channeling is that of your own higher self. Your inner wisdom, your intuition, your knowing is exactly what channeling truly is. You hear, see, feel information that you just “know” is useful. Your entire body resonates with the feeling of truth.

I feel very blessed to have the ability to experience and share intuition; it does not seem strange to me, only wonderful tools that I have the great joy to use in helping others and myself.

As a child, I was happy to see, hear, feel and have inner insight, yet, I would be ‘shut-down’ by the adults who did not experience or understand. Today I am excited and blessed to see, hear, feel and channel useful information for clients and students.

If you have experienced any sort of psychic incident, if you have discovered you have any abilities like these, it is fully your choice to use them or to let them stay dormant, you are in control, it is your life to live as you wish. Just know, there is nothing wrong with you and there is nothing to fear. There is only good in the ability to help and heal. As far as I can tell…it’s what we’re here for!

Again, Welcome to my blog-site, where I look forward to sharing and bringing forward information for The Secret of Reiki Community.  Namaste’ my friends!

Secrets You Must Understand about Reiki…..

Posted June 21st, 2010

To my friends at The Secret of Reiki Community,

It’s true. To truly understand and practice Reiki, you must first understand and develop a solid foundation.

In any aspect of your life, what usually causes the greatest amount of miss-perception or emotional pain is whenever you take things so seriously. To take anything seriously is to have an invested interest in a particular outcome, which is a way of saying to yourself, “I can’t feel the way I want to feel, or be the way I want to be, until this event happens in this specific way.” How often do you live your life, virtually holding your breath, hoping that your daily ritual of problem-solving and decision-making will somehow forge toward the imagined destiny where the mirage of happiness supposedly awaits your arrival?

During my years of practice,
I have spent a lot of time listening to other people’s stories. Some are happy, but some are sad. My experience has taught me that our thoughts and emotions can suffocate our higher wisdom and block the flow of life force while holding onto an expectation.

Reiki heals…. But you must understand much more than techniques, symbols and principles of Reiki….  Learning, understanding and building a spiritual foundation is vital in your practice of Reiki.

With great introspection and spiritual maturity, you will come to realize your thoughts or ideas of what you must become or what must unfold first in the world before happiness may arise, to be nothing more than an ever-changing illusion of temporary experience. Thoughts come, thoughts go – holding onto positive thoughts create actions manifesting happiness and joy. Holding onto negative thoughts create re-actions manifesting fear, and in time will manifest a physical dis-order or dis-ease.

Your thoughts do create your reality, positive or negative.

Instead of imagining the monitoring of thoughts to be any sort of worthwhile spiritual practice, simply allow thoughts to say what they wish, and notice how when thoughts remain undisturbed — they dissolve just as quickly as they appear. You may also notice how a single thought makes you feel; physically, mentally and spiritually. Ask yourself;

  • What purpose does this single thought serve?
  • Do you respond with a positive or negative action?

You will begin to notice that your physical and spiritual bodies record every thought.

From a spiritual perspective, your lifetime is designed to function as a school, (earth-school as I call it) where we are able to learn soul lessons and negotiate karma. The events we encounter along the way are presented to evolve our being on a soul level. Oftentimes, these experiences involve a level of intense pressure, even suffering. Yet it is during these times we have the opportunity for the most profound soul growth. You can become stuck in the experience of your story long after the importance of the lesson the experience was designed to teach has faded – or you can make a choice to learn change and create ultimate health at every level.

So now, I ask you: What is your story? You know–the one you share with every new person you   meet.  Is it a fairy tale or a nightmare?

  • If you did not have this story, who would you be?
  • How much emotional energy is invested in your story?
  • Are you harboring the past?
  • Is your life full of chaos?
  • Are your relationships healthy?
  • Are you happy and at peace with your life as it is?
  • Do you suffer from illnesses, dis-content or dis-ease?

Positive Flowing Energy
is Necessary to Create Happiness and Attract Joy!  Living in the joy of Reiki makes all things possible. Excellent health… Peace of mind… Prosperity… Nurturing Relationships… These are the gifts you can manifest through harnessing the power of your thoughts and actions.

Reiki (“ray-key”) is the Japanese combination of two words, meaning “life force.” Reiki is based on harnessing the powerful life-force energy, which already flows within each of us, to create lives of balance, well-being, and joy.

Reiki Energy heals the body and spirit through shifting this flow of energy from negative to positive…in every area of your life…every moment of every day.  The One Definition That Perfectly Describes the Practice of Reiki - It is living in Harmony with Oneself and Others.

It isn’t difficult and it is never, ever harmful or frightening.
Instead, it is a simple, but incredibly powerful, practice of meditation and healing techniques that removes all negativity replaces it with the bountiful, successful life you were born to live.

Ohio Retreat 2010

Posted May 15th, 2010

After spending time with all the beautiful energy at the Ohio Retreat, I feel so blessed to have met so many new friends… An honor and privilege to share with each one of you!  As we came together to learn, share and celebrate friendships, our group energy opened doors to a new journey; a special ‘Thanks’ to L.L. and R.A.S. for sharing your time and friendship at the Lake, also now known as ‘water-world’….. More photos to be posted in the near future!

Sharing our personal experiences is a great example of making the changes needed to live in the positive light.  With so much covered during the retreat, ‘energy, chakras, aura, thoughts and life-force (ki), dis-ease, intuition and so much more…  I have posted a quick review of a few questions often asked when being introduced and learning Reiki.  As I expressed at the Retreat, the importance of learning the basic energy system- ‘thought is energy’, ‘tribal behavior’ and ‘individual patterns’ and such is vital to understanding and learning Reiki.

How might sharing something like ‘Reiki’ make any changes in a person’s body, attitude and life? And so it goes that the public at large finds it difficult to accept this technique if the medicine they are familiar with is able to explain itself so well, or so it seems. While western medicine is able to explain a lot of things and put up a dazzling array of words with precise meaning, in actuality the functioning of the body remains largely a mystery. There should be some attempt at understanding how Reiki, and other methods of using Life Force Energy, works.  Anybody who has spent much time with a Reiki Master or the practice of Reiki will have seen very interesting occurrences happening and experienced changes in their life.  Perhaps it will have challenged their belief system, for it did mine, or it may have fit nicely with their already existing beliefs.

Reiki is a natural healing system
designed to assist in healing and help achieve balance. Reiki is administered by a practitioner, who serves as a conduit through whom the Universal Life Energy can be transmitted to the recipient, by either hands-on or distance healing techniques. Practitioners may also practice Reiki self-treatments.

How does Reiki energy flow? Reiki flows through our palms at different vibrations and rates of speed, depending on various factors such as the extent of the recipient’s degree of blockage, his or her readiness to accept change, and so on.

Is Reiki a form of faith healing? Reiki is not a religion, nor is it based on the acceptance of any religious doctrine. Having a belief system is not a requirement for Reiki to work. Reiki does not infringe on anyone’s right to believe what he or she wishes. However, Reiki’s principles are spiritual in nature and do encourage spiritual empowerment and growth.

Who can benefit from a Reiki treatment? Reiki’s gift of increased energy and vitality can be extended to anyone. It doesn’t matter what a person’s gender, race, intelligence, or financial status is. Reiki is not a healing energy reserved only for the elite, wealthy, educated, or spiritually evolved. Reiki is free to anyone who chooses to learn and tap into this beautiful healing modality.

What does Reiki feel like?
Common Reiki sensations are heat or coolness, tingling, vibration-buzzing, feelings of gentle throbbing- just to name a few…. Reiki is very relaxing and yet energizing.  The energy sensations differ with every person and treatment.

Will Reiki ever run out? When you are giving a Reiki treatment to someone, you are giving of your time and your intent to assist, but you are not giving away any of your own energy. Reiki is in infinite supply. It never runs out.

Do I need to direct the flow of Reiki? Reiki will automatically go to wherever it needs to go with no mental involvement of either the practitioner or the recipient. However, when mental intention is used, a linear pathway is opened. This cleared route allows Reiki to flow more effectively to that part of the body where attention is most desired.

Why Reiki is often called “Smart Energy”? Reiki is an intelligent divine energy because it knows which areas of the body most need healing and will automatically flow to specific areas where pain, suffering or imbalances are prevalent.

Reiki Q&A from Reiki Students

Posted May 1st, 2010

In the past month I have receive several emails from students- I would like to share with The Secret of Reiki Community-

Question: Reiki Energy in Middle of Night –
Hi Kimberlee, Any advice on this- I’ve been waking up between 2 - 4 A.M. feeling Reiki energy tingling on my hands. One time the tingling went beyond my wrists, up my arms. When I try to go back to sleep, I really can’t and end up doing some Reiki positions because doing Reiki usually puts me into a very deep peaceful state and I figure I’ll fall asleep. But this middle of the night Reiki doesn’t really trigger sleepiness. I end up staying away until it’s time to get up at 5:30 a.m.

This morning, when I woke at 3A.M.; I got the initials S.P. in my mind. All I could think of was solar plexus and did that position for a long time. Felt the Reiki clear through to my back.  What’s going on? What should I make of this? Thanks, Paula

Answer: Namaste’ Paula, This is good, a lot of energy balancing and clearing going on here!  When I first started practicing Reiki, I experienced a lot of the same…. Reiki clearing blockages, static energy and such…. as we become more balanced (energy body) the better we feel… to this day I do not require the amount of sleep I use too, I feel much better and when I rest/sleep it is a quality sleep…. you are doing great!  Good for you, to listen to your inner self (minds eye) with the SP…..   I have found that so much healing and balancing take place at night when our ego mind and our bodies are open and at rest!  Keep up the good work.   No fears, the energy will do for us what we were never taught in the past to do for our-self.

Question: Reiki before Surgery? For Kimberlee, I am scheduled for a surgery and I have been told that Reiki should not be done before my surgery date because Reiki makes the anesthetic not work? That doesn’t sound right? That seems odd to me.  What do you think of that? Please advise, Thanks, Nancy

Answer: Great question Nancy. I have personally experienced Reiki before a surgery.  I would do as much Reiki as possible, right up until you are wheeled into surgery! And continue more Reiki as soon as you come out of the recovery room!  My friend did Reiki with me going into surgery and right away when I came out of the recovery room, to my doctor’s amazement, I healed very quickly with no bruising!!!  As always, trust your intuition in every situation … What is right for you will always present itself.

Question: Reiki Self-Attunement. Hey Kimberlee, This may seem weird but is it possible to have a Reiki attunement without ever doing any Reiki Ritual? I think I was attuned to the energy before. I didn’t realize it until I was doing the Reiki self-attunement.  A few months ago, I woke up one night with the exact same sensations and feelings that I got with my self-attunement. I had slept great; I was energized and physically felt great!  Is it possible that it was a Reiki attunement even with no ritual or symbols involved?  I was in lying in my bed. I would appreciate your response. Rita G.

Answer: Yes, it is possible; ‘perception?’ …. when you consider that you and Reiki are one- and the same thing, ‘spiritual energy’; then of course you may have had a sudden awareness, experience and ‘insight’ previously.  The ritual of attunement is only for your conscious mind. ‘Subconsciously’ you already ‘know’ you are Reiki.  The symbols and rituals teach you or guide you to your awareness and intentions with the Reiki energy.

Question: Namaste’ Kimberlee. I’d like to know if what I experienced last night during my 1st reiki treatment on myself is something common. When I reached my root chakra, within a minute, my insides literally began to “tremor” almost continuously in waves although my outer body was completely still. I can only explain it as similar to an earthquake occurring “inside” my body. A few minutes later, my left arm and hand began to “shake” similarly on and off, getting more intense as time went on. When I did remove my hands, the “tremors” stopped immediately. Was this the energy realigning itself within me in response to the reiki treatment?  Thanks! Kimberlee.

Second email… I wrote you this morning of my personal experience last night when I performed reiki on myself for the first time. I’ve done some reading on your site today, and was wondering if what I experienced was a Kundalini Energy Awakening? The feeling was odd, as I previously mentioned and could have been considered extremely frightening to some individuals. I personally concentrated on allowing it to flow and put all fears aside. When it stopped, I felt like crying, not because of sadness, but because of the overwhelming joy I felt. Then I just started laughing hysterically. LOL…I feel fine today and very relaxed. Thanks for listening. Brandi

Answer: Namaste’ Brandi Welcome to the beautiful world of Reiki and all that it is! There are so many experiences, and what you experience sounds like a combination of energy balancing and possible Kundalini Energy Awakening…  the more you become balanced, the more energy, joy and calmness you will experience… I personally experienced having less sleep, but sleeping so good…. and feeling great in the morning and thru the day.  Sometimes a case of diarrhea or running nose etc will show up as you become cleansed and balanced, no worries there, just your body detoxing the old….. Congrats and thanks for sharing… PS ya know, as I recall…. some nights after a treatment and meditation I will feel what you perfectly describe…. I have learned to embrace it as I
know I am experiencing balancing…  I will continue to write and share with articles on the blog site… Sharing with love n lite, Kimberlee

Thank You all for sharing your questions, comments and experiences with us;  Please feel free to share with The Secret of Reiki Community- any practices, ideas, meditations, questions or comments.  Namaste’ my friends!

What’s (Self) Love Got to Do With It?

Posted April 16th, 2010

So let’s talk about Reiki and its pure love. Reiki has truly changed my life, helping me to become more focused and balanced, more spiritual, compassionate and loving towards myself- ‘self-love’ and others.  It has accelerated healing on all levels of my body, mind and spirit, and through my healing sessions and teaching Reiki I help others remember they can do the same.

Unfortunately, the myth of Narcissus is too often our concept of self-love. We believe that if we love ourselves, we are selfish and self-centered, that falling in love with self means conceit and self-absorption. In fact, the opposite is true. Self-love is an honoring of the self that requires a high degree of independence and courage. The love we give others will be enhanced by the love we give ourselves.

A lack of self-love is a sign of fear, low self-esteem or self-worth and shows its face in many ways: a refusal to enjoy life, workaholics, perfectionism, procrastination, guilt and shame.

Those who lack self-love avoid commitments, stay in destructive relationships, and fail to experience true intimacy with anyone. They practice negative self-talk, compare themselves with others, compete with others, care-take others and fail to take care of themselves. Unlike Narcissus, when they look in a mirror, they turn away.

The primary difference between those who practice self-love and those who don’t is their belief about themselves. “Of all the judgments that we pass in life, none is as important as the one we pass on ourselves, for that judgment touches the very center of our existence,” (a well known quote).

When you’re unable to love yourself, you are your own harshest critic, fault-finder and nagger; as Eleanor Roosevelt said, “No one can do to me what I have not already done to myself.”

And just the opposite is true, too. You can be your own hero, nurturer, lover and champion. Acting from authentic self-love, people are naturally gentle, attentive and kind to themselves. They develop their gifts and talents and live according to the values and standards they have set for themselves. Theirs is a beauty that shines from within; they laugh readily and are at ease in the world. Theirs is not a conceit, but a sureness of self.

It has been said, “To honor the self, is to be in love with our own life, in love with our possibilities for growth and for experiencing joy, in love with the process of discovery and exploring our distinctively human potentialities.”

So to answer the question: What does self-love have to do with it?  Everything

Now, as you are aware, you are a three-part being..
.Body, mind and spirit.  Think of your body as representing happiness - the mind as representing joy and the spirit as representing peace.

  • Inner happiness comes when you meet the needs of your physical self… and it radiates outwards.
  • Inner joy comes when you meet the wants of your emotional self… and it radiates outwards.
  • Inner peace comes when you meet the desires of your spiritual self… when you follow the nature of who you are… and this radiates outwards too.

Bring all these aspects of yourself together and you can experience a state of blissful contentment…  And Reiki is tremendously helpful here.  Reiki makes you more of who you already are, and as you will come to understand… less, really is more.  As you expand, through Reiki, parts of you drop away - they are no longer important or serve you.  Suddenly this ‘huge you’ is standing there, in all your glory.  You feel serene and confident… you don’t have to do anything - you simply are. Everything becomes pleasurable and fun, because you chose it, and you are now fully aware of this… You may choose to learn and practice Reiki for yourself, become a Reiki Master or even a Reiki Teacher, at every level you learn, you will experience the secret to your spiritual inner self and self love.

You now know, that it is you who creates your reality.
It is you - and no one else – who makes’ what happens’ happen.

Keep Reiki Free……

For those of you attending the ‘Self-Realization’ Day Retreat April 24th, 2010 in Port Clinton, Ohio; “call” in your registration forms and deposit to hold your space!  Any questions or interest in attending please call me for Information at 800-553-0269….

“I look forward to meeting you all!”

Many Students have emailed me with questions surrounding legal issues in the work place.  William Rand wrote this article in the past with informative links attached. I have found it to provide great information for all Reiki Practitioners, Masters and Reiki Teachers.

By William Rand

The value of Reiki as an alternative/complementary healing method is becoming more and more apparent to the general public. In fact, it seems like just about everyone either has Reiki or has heard of a friend or other acquaintance that has it or has heard it mentioned before. Not only is this causing an increase in the use of Reiki by independent practitioners, but it is also fostering the increased use of Reiki in hospitals and clinics. While there is no statistics available as far are I know, from the communication I have received over the past, Reiki is being offered in hundreds if not thousands of hospitals across the country by Reiki Teachers, Reiki Masters and Practitioners as well.

This increased use especially in professional settings has brought the question of government regulation of Reiki to the attention of many people and groups. Some have started to think of Reiki in the same way they think of other medical practices and have suggested that it needs to be regulated and licensed. In addition, the current medical practice act that was passed in most states many years ago is so broad that technically, Reiki is considered a medical practice and therefore requires that it be practiced only by licensed health care providers. Note that this law is currently in place, but rarely enforced. However, the fact that it exists places all Reiki practitioners under an unnecessary threat that could be used if someone chooses to do so. This has happened with a few other alternative/complementary practitioners with devastating results.

Remember, the purpose of a law is to protect the public from harm. Since Reiki does not cause harm, there is no need to create laws requiring that Reiki be licensed or regulated by the government.

Reiki and the Religious or Spiritual Defense

Many Reiki practitioners have chosen to become ordained ministers as a way to protect themselves from the Medical Practice Act (practicing medicine without a license). The value of this method of legal defense is questionable. A sermon written by the Universal Life Church outlines several key issues necessary for Reiki to be considered ones religion. However, even if one can prove that Reiki is ones religion, it still does not guarantee that this will be a viable legal defense. See Reiki, Spiritual and Religious Freedom for a more complete discussion of this issue.

Because of this and the fact that the medical practice act does already exist, and since other groups are considering creating government licensing of Reiki, something must be done to protect ourselves from this threat.

Several states have passed laws exempting alternative -complementary practitioners including Reiki practitioners from the medical practice act. These laws are beneficial to Reiki practitioners as they prevent the government from harassing us and make the practice of Reiki without a license a legitimate legal activity. The legislation recently passed in California is a good example of this. I suggest you carefully read this short bill as it is a good model for legislation that protects Reiki practitioners and also protects the client.

Many states are working to keep Reiki and other alternative -complementary healing methods free of unnecessary government regulation.  Please click here to read this short bill.  http://www.californiahealthfreedom.com/californiah/htdocs/documents/our_bill.asp

Reiki practitioners in Florida have been hampered by the Massage board that says one needs to be a licensed massage therapist to practice Reiki. This group is creating legislation to prevent this and keep Reiki free.

National Organization

A national organization has formed to work with anyone wanting to create legislation to protect our right to choose the healing modality we want without the threat of unnecessary government licensing. This is a really wonderful group of people who have a solid spiritual commitment to protect our rights. I highly recommend that you become a member and if you can, make a donation. In this way, you will be helping to keep Reiki free! Click here to go to the site.  http://www.nationalhealthfreedom.org

My personal experience has allowed me to work under a massage license, and a chiropractor’s license as well as being ordained in 2004.  Each State is different… as I receive updates I will be glad to pass the information on, if you have insight to share, please comment to ‘The Secret of Reiki Community’.  Namaste’ my Friends!

Preparing a Sacred Space

Posted March 19th, 2010

It’s ‘your’ space – in which you ‘set’ to honor and connect with Spirit

As we set the space for the latest Reiki Circle, ‘setting our space’ was the main topic.  With several Reiki Masters attending we were able to share ideas and bring insight surrounding this subject to many students.  I am honored to share some of my personal rituals to setting my personal space before the start of each day and every Reiki session.

First, the most important burning question… What is it?
What exactly is it about a chosen place that makes it ‘Sacred’? Well first of all, you’re Sacred Space doesn’t really have to be a space at all. It can be a place in your mind. It can also be an ancient stone circle, or your bathtub. It can be nowhere, and it can be everywhere. Confused? Keep reading…

Creating Sacred Space isn’t as daunting a task as it first may seem; considering the amount of mail I get on this topic, I think this might be a somewhat misunderstood concept. So I hope this article will be of some assistance.

Your Sacred Space can be as large as your home, an entire room or as small as a cardboard-box, or even the energy (aura) that simply surrounds you, the size does not matter, just the ’intent’ of it .Whatever is right for you is right. A Sacred Space is all about honoring and connecting with the essence of who you are. It is all about sacredness.

Most people think of an altar when they think about a Sacred Space, you may want to create one in your home, in a corner of your room or it can be much larger and used for more purposes, it’s entirely your intention and choosing. I have a friend that has his back yard set beautifully with a waterfall as the center of his alter, candles, incenses and such…. This is his Sacred Space.  If you choose to start off with setting up an Altar in your Sacred Space or as your Sacred Space; here are some ideas to help you do just that.

Creating an Altar

An altar is a physical space you dedicate to spirit. It can be a table, a shoebox, or a back yard, the size and what it is made from is not important. What’s important are the items you place on your altar, each item needs to carry meaning for you and feel right for you.

Listed below are some of the items that are on my altar to give you an idea of what types of things you can use to create your own. Remember, what is right for me, might not be right for you, so trust yourself and only do what is right for YOU.

Candles, incenses, sage, and oils - I always light candles, incenses, and sage on my altar before doing any type of spiritual work. It helps me protect and connect with the space and serves as a sign to spirit that I wish to connect with them. It honors the element of fire and enhances creativity.

Crystals and Rocks - I have a number of different crystals and rocks on my altar which help to bring in the earth element and to ground the space and the energy as I work.

Feathers- Dream Catcher - I have feathers on my altar to bring in the element of air and to honor all messengers.

Water and Water Fall - I have water, either in a glass or quenching flowers in a vase and/or a mini water fall to bring in this element and to honor the flow of life.

Your environment is important.
Set up your Altar using candles, incense, oils, and sage, (or anything else you connect with) you are setting a beautiful, balanced Sacred Space to promote a healing atmosphere.  You will be clearing the energy in the environment by invoking the intention that the environment become holy, that the Space is Sacred.

First, clean the place physically
- dust, vacuum, etc. Then clean it of everything else - sweep with a broom, make lots of noise, dance around, meditate on the space becoming ‘clean’, etc. The goal here is to remove all of the stale ‘ickies’ that generally hang around a place. All of the emotions you leave lying around behind like so much dust. Then if you like, you can go around your space with the elements, and bless the space. Visualize the space becoming Sacred. Then Cast your Circle and make the space Sacred for as long as you need it. Now set up your Altar if you like, that’s it. You have created a clean, safe, and Sacred Space.

So now lets look at another way to create your Sacred Space.
You can create a place in your mind that is your perfect Sacred Space. Create anything you like. Set it up any way you please. If you could create a perfect place, a truly magical place, what would it look like? A stone circle, a boat on the water, an island, a grove, a farm, a cave? Feel free here, that’s important. Experiment and change things as you go. This is your safe place. Know that in your heart nobody can or will judge you here. This is a real place, known as your Astral Temple. When you have designed this perfect place, visit it often, especially when you are in a ritual frame of mind. It is there for you always, whenever you need that bit of peace, quite, or just that bit of sanity and relief. When you meditate or attempt to encounter the divine, you can do it in this place if you like.

While you are in ritual, in your physical space, you may also want to visit your Astral Temple (your perfect Sacred Space) to ‘water the flowers’, so to speak.

This might begin to make a little more sense when we deal with the next question: What is it for?
Sacred Space is a place, whether physical or not, that you have made ’safe’. It is a clean spiritual place, free from every day worries and stress. A place where you can be you, a place where you can be free, and it is in a place such as this that you are free to encounter spirituality on a deeper level. The reason you create sacred space before a ritual is because you will become fully aware and really free, you are releasing outside issues or situations and you are not bound to the mundane. So creating Sacred Space gives you that place to be safe and secure.  Simply with intent say, “The Space is Sacred, and all that happens here now is for the Highest Good of All Concerned.”  This means that you render the Space Sacred and that anyone coming into the Space (including your thoughts) will receive healing energy for their Highest Good.  Working in a clean, clear Sacred Space promotes a transmission of energy from the Divine to the healer to the client.

Most of all, this is your space, your intentions and your personal touch belongs there, create and enjoy!  Please feel free to share with The Secret of Reiki Community- any rituals, practices, ideas or meditations you have used.  Namaste’ my friends!

Cleansing and Protecting

Cleansing and Protecting Your Self from Negative

Energy and a Negative Environment…

Is vital to your Health!

Ahhh, let’s take a deep breath
and relax a moment, look around your environment- and now notice how it makes you feel, What does the energy feel like that you live in?

Think of negative energy in your home as if it were like dust. Over time the negative energy builds up in corners of your home, some rooms a bit dirtier then others, and some homes have more dirt then others. You have a lot to do with the energy in your home and your inner space. If you are someone who carries negative thoughts surrounding your life situations, you will tend to have an office or home full of negative energy, clutter, heaviness in the air and most likely feel depressed, ill or worthless. You will also notice you may seem to always have problems, whether they are personal or health problems.

The energy that surrounds you greatly affects your life and your health. A negative inner space, home or office will have effects on your concentration, your sleep and your immune system.

Many years ago I found myself in situations where I was always sick and experienced negative things happening all around me, it seem to last for years. I would even sit back and try to look at why so many negative things were going on and how I could go about changing that. I had gotten so sick that I was in bed and experienced a few surgeries over a period of years. It got to the point where I just thought it was me and my life and therefore nothing I would do could fix it. It wasn’t until I learned about Reiki and self-realization and made changes in my life that things got much better. As I looked back on the past situations, I understand more about how I created negative energy and events in many aspects of my life, and just like the domino effect…. I allowed it to penetrate my ‘whole’ life.

If any of this sounds familiar, sit back, take another breath and keep reading….. Your new journey starts today, right now!

Well actually, it was not just me that was causing the issue, it was the people I surrounded myself with, those that I spent a lot of time with, rubbing shoulders with negative energy, in our thoughts, outlook and experiences.  They weren’t bad people, just negative; we were all behaving and mimicking what we had been taught by family, society and our peers. Thinking negative, gossip negatively, and say hurtful things about ourselves and others. Negative (surroundings) people, including a few that I worked with, began to help me built up a huge cloud of negative energy around myself. So much that it made me spiritually broken, physically sick and nothing ever seemed to go right, and my personal thoughts wouldn’t let the positive in…. didn’t know how?

You would think I would have known better;
all my childhood I experienced dreams, awakenings, paranormal happenings and was very curious and open to ‘the new age experiences’ as it was so called or referred to.  I knew how to cleanse and protect myself and had lived most my life with a very positive outlook.

But then something happened, tragedy and loss of my mother and brother, and I left myself really, jumped off the path of being spiritual. That is when things went down hill. I was to learn a lesson from loss, experience new emotions and learn to process life’s mishaps… But, I chose to leave my spiritual life and the little I had learned up to that point. That was one of the many reasons things got negative, illness manifested and my outlook and company felt like depressed energy, because it was!

Another thing that can cause negative energy
around us is when people send it to us. It may sound crazy to some, but it is true. We live in a world full of negative and jealous people. People think bad things of us and send us negative energy and thoughts most of the time without even realizing it. It is not really smart on their part beings anything you put out, both good and bad, comes back to you. It does not pay to be jealous, mean to others or think negatively about others. It simply says you lack self love.  There could be people you work with and even at times your own friends that are sending you negative energy. This is why it is not just important to cleanse your home, but to protect yourself too. So let’s focus on cleaning up some of the negative energy in your personal space, home or office.

Many years ago I attended a Spiritual Seminar
that included a Reiki Circle; the Reiki Master Teacher said we should avoid negative people, negative places and negative situations/things. She also said you need to clean up the clutter in your life. That statement is so true and I have applied that to my life and it works. But to begin you really should learn the basics of cleansing the home and office and then more on to focusing on cleaning up other clutter in your life. It is obvious as to how you can avoid negative people, places and things. Just avoid those who are negative and don’t expose yourself to a place that is negative for you, including maybe even a family gathering or party, avoid gossip and situations that don’t belong to you.

Let us begin with the home or office. Get yourself a sage stick. Sometimes you can find a mix of sage and cedar and that will work just fine. This is an ancient practice used by Native American Indians and other traditions. You can find them in and new age book store or order online. You will also want to light a few white candles, one in each room if possible. Then get yourself some sea salt, not table salt, which is available at the grocery store. Mix a few tablespoons of sea salt with a cup of water, preferably spring or purified water. Light your candles and then go from room to room sprinkling, with your fingers, the sea salt water mixture. You should do this in every room mostly in the corners of the room and in the closets. When you’re finished you can light your sage stick. Once the sage stick is burning, you will go room to room once again fanning the sage smoke throughout the house and in the closets, and as a practice I smudge sage smoke and sea salt water all around myself too….

As I say a little prayer; for example:  “I call upon my Spirit guides, Divine Masters, Angels and Light-workers to set a field of loving energy around my home, myself (and anything else you want to include) to cleanse this space of all negative energy and allow only good to enter herein. May the archangels protect me, my family (etc.) my home from all evil and all negative energy as I cleanse this space for the highest good… So it is.”

You and your home are now on the way to becoming a wonderfully positive place to reside, it also helps to have a clear mind and home that is very clean with no ‘clutter’ or mind chatter.

A few other things that help bring positive energy into the home are plants, especially the good luck bamboo plant. Some traditions believe you should have one bamboo plant in each room of the home. Having a fountain with running water in the home also helps create positive energy and brings a relaxed atmosphere. So many things can influence your life, your mood and how you feel. Even the color you paint the walls in your home can greatly affect the energy. Just doing a few things each month will help you to feel better and to live in a positive, clean environment, work with positive energy, increase your positive attitude.  These few suggestions will surprise you and change your life.

Please feel free to share with The Secret of Reiki Community- any practices, ideas or prayers you have used.  Now, on with the ‘Spring Cleaning’ Namaste’ my friends!

Your Thoughts and Reiki…

Posted February 12th, 2010

Stop a moment; take a breath, what is your thought at this moment? Does that thought affect you? At what level does that thought affect you? Do you carry it through your day?

Here is a little summary of my recent sharing in Illinois with a wonderful group of women.

Thank you Deborah for being such a great Host!

Reiki Heals at many levels,
so let’s talk about how you can start your journey to healing with your every thought…. Let’s call ‘thought-energy’ the root of dis-comfort, dis-order, dis-ease.  Now let’s simplify this, ‘your thoughts create an action and movement of energy within your life-force…. ‘Positive or negative thoughts’ they all have some form of affect, positive thoughts allow flow and promotes healing and negative thoughts create static or blockage in your natural flow of energy manifesting physical ailments.  See my recent articles ‘Energy Vibrations’ and ‘How does this Reiki work?’.

Each day you have thousands of thoughts
which rush through your mind. You pay very little attention to what you are thinking most of the time. You may simply allow the random thoughts to have a life of their own, running here and there with no control.  When you get into a group full of chaos or gossip, where do your thoughts go?  Do you chime in with the mind chatter allowing the thoughts of others to take over? Stop and realize all that chatter comes from a place of Fear.

It can be very beneficial to spend time paying attention to the thoughts that your mind creates. How many times have you had thoughts of “I can’t …”, “Its hard.”, “I’m tired.”, “I can’t stand him …”, or “she’s stupid …” and other such thoughts?
Each time you allow one of these thoughts to move through your head, it is creating negative energy. Once you allow a negative thought to have control, it creates another negative thought and another until your thoughts are filled with negative energy penetrating your energy body, (life-force).

Your thoughts create your reality, including the thoughts that have become habit ‘you don’t even realize you are having’.

Let’s look at an example.
Annie has been out of work for a while. She is on unemployment that won’t last much longer, and she can’t find a job. Holidays are just around the corner, and Annie has no money to provide presents for her kids.  Annie wakes up in the morning and thinks, “I really don’t want to get up.” That thought sends out negative energy into her day and attracts or leads to another negative thought. “I don’t know why I am even bothering, no one is hiring. It is just a waste of my time to have to get dressed for no reason.” Then she thinks “I just don’t know what I am going to do about presents this year, I just don’t have any money to buy them.” Do you feel how heavy the energy in those statements feels?

Each negative thought that Annie has will lead to another negative thought, then another, then another. The negative, low vibrational energy of these thoughts will go out into the Universe, attracting energy of the same vibration. With thoughts such as this, Annie will have a very depressing day. (Depressing negative thoughts into her energy body creating static in the natural flow of energy)

Stop for a moment and pay attention to what you are thinking right now.
You may be thinking “This is stupid.”, “This makes no sense to Me.”, “I wonder why I don’t have enough money.” Any number of thoughts could be running through your mind.

If you find that you are having a negative thought, it is important that you delete and change it immediately before it has the opportunity to create more negative energy; creating or manifesting blockage in your energy body, dis-comfort, dis-order or dis-ease on a physical level.  I personally “delete” negative thoughts just as soon as I catch them….. Just as thou I am deleting a word off an article I am writing in the computer!  You can treat it like a little game, just become aware of what it is you are telling your energy/life-force… after all, it is your personal computer!  Okay, now smile and take another breathe…

Let’s return to Annie. She wakes up and thinks, “I really don’t want to get up.” She immediately catches the negative thought and thinks “Delete that negative thought, I am going to get dressed and have a wonderful day.” Notice how the energy changes with that statement. She may follow that with the thought “I will find the perfect job.” Notice the difference in the vibration of these thoughts. Annie can create a completely different reality by paying attention to her thoughts and keeping them positive. She is calling in the healing to her life situations and not creating a problem to her life situations.

Take time throughout your day to pay attention to what you are thinking, saying and how you are responding to your life situations. Do your thoughts include the words “can’t, won’t, hard, difficult, mess, bills, pain, etc.”? If so, change them immediately to a positive thought. Even changing the thought to “I am in the process of creating my dreams.” will change the energy you are sending out and create the reality you desire.

Now here is a little exercise; Top Ten Things to Say to Yourself

Often the things you say to yourself you wouldn’t even think of saying to another person. Do you blame, shame, call names of the meanest sort, nag, belittle and bully yourself through self-talk?

What if, instead, you were gentler with yourself, asked yourself questions and listened to the responses. What if you treated yourself as you treat a best friend,
someone you love dearly? Here’s a Top Ten list of loving things to say to your-self.

  1. What do you feel? Asking yourself what you feel can help put names to, and identify emotions. Listening for the response and being honest with yourself is like taking your emotional temperature.
  2. What do you need? A need is different from a want. A want states a desire, while a need is usually a statement about nurturing. Pay attention to your needs, they’re about caring for yourself.
  3. Good job. Congratulate yourself on a job well done whether it’s mowing the lawn, writing a poem or cleaning the bathroom. Acknowledge yourself to a job well done!
  4. I apologize. Saying “I’m sorry” for all the wrongs we have done to ourselves can be the first step in healing.
  5. Let’s play. Lighten up and be playful. Listen to what comes up when you suggest play, something fun or silly. “Smile”
  6. Breathe. Reminding yourself to breathe- it helps relieve tension, gives you that moment you sometimes need to center and ground yourself.
  7. I forgive you. Sometimes it’s easier to forgive others than to forgive yourself. Yet, to have closure and move on often means you have to forgive yourself and just realize the lesson at hand.
  8. Let go. Releasing worries, resentments, anger and fears loosens the grip of resistance and makes room for growth. Here again, the lesson at hand is behind you now.
  9. Be present. Staying present, being aware of the physical, acknowledging the moment, this is when we are truly alive.
  10. I love you. We say it to others; why not say it to you. Say it again. Now Smile!

Shifting and changing your thoughts will change your life; incorporate Reiki at any level you are comfortable with, Learn and practice Reiki on yourself and others; as a Practitioner, Reiki Master or Reiki Teacher…. At any level of Reiki you will experience a spiritual journey to self realization. Namaste’

Reiki Symbols (Part II)

Posted February 2nd, 2010

This article follows ‘Reiki Symbols Article’ and will disclose more information surrounding: Tracing them in order?  Using a single symbol and/or sets.

A Bit of History - Reiki Symbols

Traditionally we are taught 4 symbols. They were transmitted orally for a long time, mostly within an audience that had no understanding of the original forms (which were either words in Japanese script, or single characters in Sid-ham script), it is my understanding they got transformed almost beyond recognition. Along the way, mysterious new forms appeared. The latter may have been designed by the founder of Reiki himself, or they could have been introduced by later students in efforts to give a visually evocative shape for each function. The symbols have Japanese names and two of them are very obviously written in Japanese Kanji — the Chinese script. That does not make the symbols any less good.

The likely scenario is this:

As a Buddhist, Usui (Founder) had knowledge of many sacred symbols, or shuji before he retired to Kurama. Shuji is the Japanese name of the “seed characters” written in the Sid-ham for of the Sanskrit script. Usui’s visionary experience on the mountain filled him with a new, deeper understanding for their significance. From there he went to found Reiki, which he intended as a spiritual-philosophical system “for the connection and improvement of body and soul”. Self-healing was part of this, but to improve its efficiency he found it fit to introduce four “keys” for focusing the intent: these he chose among his system, and they have been handed down as “the four symbols of Reiki” ever since.

For every symbol there is the “traditional” form, the “non-traditional” form,
the known variations and one of the possible meanings of the Japanese names that I pieced together (to my surprise and you may be dismayed to hear that back in Japan, they are not referred to by the Japanese name we use, but by number, and the Kanji that might have been at their origin fell into oblivion, so that is something we may never find out). Many practitioners, traditional and modern, feel the symbols must not be disclosed to the uninitiated. While I agree they should not be disrespected and used frivolously, I am against pointless secrecy (knowing the symbols cannot replace a true initiation as intended by Usui).

Tracing the Symbols

Everything I read about Reiki, written and taught to me by Western practitioners, insisted on the fact that you MUST draw the symbols with the correct order of strokes. In my conversation with my new Japanese friend- she explained that this is apparently because the Japanese attach a great importance to stroke order, and it betrays a very superficial understanding of this concern by the westerners who imported Reiki. Let me share with you a bit more that I’ve learned about Japanese writing.  In Japan it is very important to write characters with the correct order and direction of strokes, for the simple reason that if you write them fast and your pen does not leave the paper between strokes, the extra “linking” strokes thus created can make the character totally illegible if they are not disciplined into a unique, consistent pattern. In other words, the stroke order is only important for legibility purposes and to learn how to draw the symbols/characters. If using an order of your own helps you memorize them, then by all means use your own order. Be consistent and call upon each symbol with good intentions and respect.  However what is important, I think, is that you stick to a single order once you’ve settled on it, or else your trigger may be fuzzy.

As I said in my last article:

Tracing them in order accurately
is your least worry, your intentions attached to the meaning; understanding and use of them are where the importance lies. Strictly speaking, if you are just going to learn how to trace them then they have as much to do with Reiki as a dollar-store dream catcher has to do with Indians. The value of a symbol resides in its efficiency as a trigger. Whether you use the original symbols, symbols you further modify yourself, symbols you make up or symbols you bring in from other traditions, you will not lose efficiency. If you forget how to draw a symbol in the middle of a working, you can still move forward on intent, which is all you actually need anyway. Energy flows where your intent is. Everything else is just there to help until the day you can control your energy as naturally as you can move an arm.

Single Symbol vs. Sets

The Reiki symbols are each used for a specific function. It is simply that breaking down Reiki needs into different symbols makes each trigger sharper and more powerful. This is true of all symbols, and it is why it’s a good idea to learn and use a set of symbols rather than a single one. As an example when it comes to a Reiki treatment:
Here is just ‘one-set’ example:

  • Starting the ‘Ki’ flow
  • Boosting the power - ChoKuRei
  • Giving emotional healing - Seihekei
  • “Opening a gate” or triggering distance healing - Honshazeshonen

For details and further explanation of the symbols, what they are, what they mean and how to attune and apply Reiki and the symbols to your life, and in fact become a Reiki Master or Reiki Teacher click here… www.TheSecretOfReikiHomeStudyCourse.com

My personal experience in calling on and applying sets of symbols to my daily practice is very powerful, you see, it is the intention, respect and practice that is attached to each one.  Enjoy your spiritual journey my friends, the gifts Reiki will bring to your life are unlimited.  Namaste’
